Mike Williams: Planning to retire
Thursday, July 17, 2025 1:51 PM Free Agent

Williams plans to retire from the NFL, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Chargers had placed Williams on the active/PUP list Monday, but the wideout now has elected to step away from the game as a player. With the 2017 first-rounder no longer in the mix, Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston and unsigned rookie Tre Harris profile as the team's top three WRs. After spending last season with the Jets and Steelers, Williams was slated to return to the team that drafted him after signing a one-year deal with Los Angeles in March. Instead, he'll conclude his NFL career with 330 catches for 5,104 yards and 32 TDs over the course of 106 games.

Jordan Addison: Gets fine and probation in DUI case
Thursday, July 17, 2025 1:46 PM Rick Sanchez

Addison, who had a trial for his 2024 DUI citation Tuesday in a Superior Court of California, pleaded to a lesser offense and will pay a fine and be on probation according to his representation, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

With Addison's court case now complete, the NFL likely will weigh in soon on a possible suspension. Even though he pleaded to a lesser charge, he still could face discipline since the NFL's substance-abuse policy has a baseline punishment for a first-time DUI offense of a three-game suspension.

Anthony Richardson: Moving past shoulder issue
Thursday, July 17, 2025 1:11 PM Highseas

Richardson is thought to have recovered from the recent setback with his right throwing shoulder, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.

Richardson, who underwent a season-ending procedure to repair an AC joint sprain during the 2023 season, missed the final two weeks of the Colts' offseason practices in June after experiencing some soreness in his right shoulder. Subsequent rest seems to have allowed the 23-year-old to move past the issue, with James Boyd of The Athletic reporting that Richardson has resumed throwing. Richardson thus appears on track to be available for training camp, though Holder notes that it's quite possible the signal-caller will be on some form of a pitch count once he retakes the field and begins competing with veteran newcomer Daniel Jones for the team's top QB job.

Rashee Rice: Ruling handed down
Thursday, July 17, 2025 12:32 PM Moore $ Moore Problems

Rice has been sentenced to five years probation and 30 days of jail time (which can be served during those five years) stemming from the wide receiver's role in a multi-car crash that occurred in Dallas during the 2024 offseason, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Now that a ruling on the matter has been handed down, the NFL could expedite its disciplinary process, with Schefter indicating that Rice is likely to receive a multi-game suspension. Rice and his teammates are scheduled to report to training camp on July 21. Per ESPN.com, Rice -- who suffered a torn right ACL in Week 4 last season -- is expected to be healthy once the team resumes practicing, but the 25-year-old's status now will need to be monitored ahead of Week 1 of the upcoming campaign, considering the possibility that league discipline could be on the way.

Najee Harris: Officially placed on NFI list
Thursday, July 17, 2025 12:07 PM Rick Sanchez

Harris was placed on the active/non-football injury list by the Chargers on Thursday.

Per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com, Harris, who sustained an eye injury as the result of a fireworks mishap on July Fourth, isn't expected to remain on the list long, according to Chargers GM Joe Hortiz. Once the running back is ready to return to the field, he'll be able to resume practicing, but until then 2025 first-rounder Omarion Hampton figures to see added first-team reps, with Hassan Haskins, Kimani Vidal, Jaret Patterson and Raheim Sanders also currently in the team's backfield mix.

Sam LaPorta: High hopes for new Lions OC
Thursday, July 17, 2025 11:14 AM Rick Sanchez

LaPorta said Wednesday that new Lions offensive coordinator John Morton has a "brilliant mind" and should do a great job calling plays, NFL.com's Kevin Patra reports.

This is LaPorta's first time working with Morton, who was an assistant on Ben Johnson's staff in 2022. Morton was Denver's passing-game coordinator the past two years, before circling back to Detroit to replace Johnson this winter. The Lions also lost starting center Frank Ragnow (retired) and right guard Keven Zeitler (Titans) this offseason, but they retained all their key skill-position players -- an impressive group led by LaPorta, RB Jahmyr Gibbs, RB David Montgomery, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and WR Jameson Williams. The tough competition likely means LaPorta will see less volume than what he's capable of handling, after dropping from 120 targets as a rookie in 2023 to just 83 targets in 2024. He had six or fewer targets in each of his first eight games last season, but he then got six or more targets in nine straight contests to close out the year, with six TDs during that stretch.

Jordan Mims: Signs with Tennessee
Thursday, July 17, 2025 11:01 AM Free Agent

Mims is signing a two-year contract with the Titans, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.

Mims has played in 13 regular-season games for the Saints since going undrafted in 2023, recording 32 touches for 141 yards across 108 snaps on offense. The Titans have Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears locked into the top two spots on their depth chart, leaving Mims to compete with Julius Chestnut, Kalel Mullings and Tyrion Davis-Price for one or two jobs.

Tyrone Broden: Activated off NFI list
Wednesday, July 16, 2025 9:16 PM Free Agent

The Seahawks activated Broden (undisclosed) off the active/non-football injury list Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Broden is now cleared to return to football activities after having started training camp on the NFI list. The 24-year-old signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in April and will now spend the remainder of the offseason competing for a roster spot.

Justyn Ross: Waived by Chiefs
Wednesday, July 16, 2025 9:08 PM Free Agent

The Chiefs waived Ross on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Ross signed a reserve/future contract with the team back in February but will now head to waivers. The 2023 undrafted free agent had spent the entirety of his two-year career in Kansas City and hauled in six of his 12 targets for 53 yards across 12 regular-season games but will now look to catch on with another team.

Najee Harris: Bound for active/NFI list
Wednesday, July 16, 2025 4:40 PM Rick Sanchez

GM Joe Hortiz said Wednesday that Harris likely will begin training camp on the active/non-football injury list as doctors continue to monitor the eye injury that he suffered during a fireworks incident at a Fourth of July event, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.

Harris remains in the Bay Area as of Wednesday afternoon but is expected to report to The Bolt in El Segundo, Calif. later in the day. Hortiz noted the Chargers have yet to ascertain the extent of Harris' injury, but his agent has called it a "superficial" one, per Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Times. Once Harris joins his teammates, L.A. is expected to make the aforementioned transaction, but he'll be able to practice as soon as he passes a physical. How Harris and rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton fare in training camp and the preseason should determine the breakdown of RB touches between the duo at the start of the regular season.
