Eli Raridon: Candidate to contribute early
Tuesday, July 7, 2026 4:52 PM FarmerTedSF 1

Raridon will enter training camp with an opportunity to establish himself as a consistent contributor on offense behind No. 1 tight end Hunter Henry, Jordy McElroy of USA Today reports.

The Patriots selected Raridon in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and Julian Hill (knee) going down to a season-ending injury after Austin Hooper signed with the Falcons creates a clear path to immediate playing time. At 6-foot-6, 245 pounds, the former Notre Dame standout possesses the athleticism, speed and catch radius to threaten defenses down the seam and provide Drake Maye with another receiving option. Raridon still needs refinement as a blocker, but a strong training camp could position him for a meaningful rookie-year role. Meanwhile, Henry is positioned to hit free agency in 2027.

Ray Davis: Continues to work behind Cook
Tuesday, July 7, 2026 3:47 PM Bryzzobrist 13

As training camp approaches, Davis is on track to maintain his complementary role in a Buffalo backfield that returns starter James Cook as well as Ty Johnson, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.

During the 2025 regular season, Cook logged 309 carries (third in the NFL) for a league-high 1,621 rushing yards in 17 contests, a heavy workload that didn't leave much volume for either Davis (58 carries) or Ty Johnson (50 carries). With Cook entrenched as the Bills' lead back, Davis brings modest fantasy lineup utility out of the gate in 2026, but he remains a valuable backup who excels as a kicker returner, and if Cook were to miss time down the road, Davis -- who racked up 151 rushing yards on 21 carries during a spot start in Week 18 last season -- would likely step in as the starter, with Johnson also in the mix, in particular in pass-catching situations.

David Montgomery: Viewed as three-down back
Tuesday, July 7, 2026 3:47 PM The GR8 G8R

Texans running backs coach Danny Barrett said early July that Montgomery is "a three-down back" who "can do it all," Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

Montgomery is positioned to serve as Houston's lead running back after arriving from Detroit via trade this offseason, and Houston appears prepared to use him in a workhorse role. Barrett praised Montgomery's physical running style, blocking ability and leadership, while emphasizing the veteran's mentality and consistency. With an upgraded offensive line and little proven competition beyond Woody Marks, Montgomery looks poised for a substantial workload in his first season with Houston. Moreover, Montgomery's skill set should allow the Texans to find greater success in the red zone and in play action, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2.

Tyler Loop: Still has confidence of team
Monday, July 6, 2026 3:34 PM SF Orphan Takeover

Ravens coach Jesse Minter said in June that the team remains confident in Loop, who was the only kicker on the roster for offseason practices, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.

A 2025 sixth-round pick, Loop missed just four field-goal attempts and two PATs as a rookie, but his season was ultimately remembered for a last-second shank that cost Baltimore a playoff spot. He also went just 1-for-4 on kicks of 50-plus yards, unable to make an impact from long range despite boasting plenty of leg strength. While the Ravens still have time to bring in competition before Week 1, they clearly intend for Loop to handle the placekicking work if he doesn't faceplant during training camp and the preseason.

Cooper Kupp: Back for Year 2 with Seattle
Monday, July 6, 2026 2:10 PM Free Agent

As the coming season approaches, Kupp is line to reprise a key role in a Seahawks wide receiver corps led by reigning Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Justin Melo of USA Today reports.

Smith-Njigba led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards in 17 regular-season games last season, with Kupp finishing a distant second on the team in that category with 593 yards (on 47 catches) through 16 contests. Those marks were well off the volume/production level that made Kupp a high-rated fantasy option earlier in his career, but looking ahead, the 33-year-old should maintain enough of a complementary role behind Smith-Njigba (in a Seattle passing game that also features fellow WR Rashid Shaheed and TE AJ Barner) to merit lineup consideration in deeper fantasy formats.

Terrell Jennings: In mix for No. 3 role
Monday, July 6, 2026 12:07 PM Free Agent

Jennings will enter training camp as a candidate to secure the No. 3 running back role behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, Mike Reiss of ESPN reports.

Jennings was limited to seven regular-season appearances in 2025 due to a combination of a concussion and hamstring injury, but he looked fully healthy during spring activities this offseason and worked with the first-team punt protection team. The third-year pro's ability to contribute on special teams will give him a clear path to a roster spot, and at 6-foot-0, 220-pounds, he has the size necessary to carve out a reserve role on offense. In addition to Jenning, competitors for the No. 3 spot behind Stevenson and Henderson are rookie seventh-round pick Jam Miller and Lan Larison.

Daniel Bellinger: Facing opportunity
Monday, July 6, 2026 11:26 AM Free Agent

Bellinger is poised to enter training camp with a chance to carve out a meaningful role in the Titans' offense, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

Bellinger spent the last four seasons playing under offensive coordinator Brian Daboll with the Giants, making him one of Tennessee's most familiar additions to the new offensive scheme. While 2025 fourth-rounder Gunnar Helm is expected to handle plenty of receiving work following the departure of Chig Okonkwo (now with the Commanders), Bellinger's blocking ability makes him a natural fit for the heavier personnel packages Daboll is expected to employ. That familiarity, combined with the vacancy created by Okonkwo's departure, gives the 25-year-old a legitimate chance to earn consistent snaps with the Titans.

Michael Mayer: Could benefit from two-TE offense
Monday, July 6, 2026 11:19 AM Stoners

Mayer is poised for a complementary role behind Brock Bowers in head coach Klint Kubiak's offense, which is expected to feature frequent two-tight end formations, Sam Warren of The Athletic reports.

Mayer enters the final year of his rookie contract with an opportunity to carve out the biggest role of his NFL career, per Jared Feinberg of SI.com. While Bowers remains the focal point of the passing game for new quarterbacks Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza, Mayer's combination of in-line blocking and reliable short-area receiving makes him an ideal fit for Kubiak's outside-zone scheme and heavy personnel packages. If Las Vegas leans into an approach heavy on 12 personnel, Mayer could see consistent enough snaps to surpass the career-best 35-328-1 receiving line he recorded while suiting up for 13 regular-season games last year.

C.J. Goodwin: Retiring after 10 seasons
Monday, June 29, 2026 10:59 AM Free Agent

Goodwin has retired from the NFL, Rob Metzger of WTOV News9 reports.

Goodwin was a core special teams player for 10 years in the NFL, recording 94 tackles (68 solo) in 136 regular-season games while logging one career start at defense back in his rookie year in 2016. He appeared in all 17 games for the Cowboys in his final season in 2025 and logged a career-high 18 tackles (10 solo). The 36-year-old cornerback is opting to hang up his cleats after playing for the Falcons, Cardinals and Cowboys.

Omar Cooper: Solidifying spot in three-wide sets
Monday, June 29, 2026 10:51 AM Lhotse

Cooper was the Jets' most impressive rookie in spring practices and looks to have solidified his spot in three-receiver sets, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

The Jets traded up into the first round to draft Cooper 30th overall. The versatile rookie out of Indiana played both on the outside and in the slot in college, which should help Cooper get on the field consistently alongside Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell. Per Geoffrey A. Knox of USA Today Jets Wire, Mitchell and slot receiver option Isaiah Williams were two of the Jets' top performers during the offseason program, so Cooper will need to continue building on his strong spring to secure playing time. That being said, Cimini expects Cooper's physical playing style to help the rookie shine even more once the pads come on in training camp.
