Kyle Williams: New England adds speedy wideout
Friday, April 25, 2025 9:54 PM Free Agent

The Patriots selected Williams in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 69th overall.

Williams (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) might lack the hands to run routes into the teeth of the defense underneath and over the middle, but as a speed-oriented downfield threat he could prove credible in the NFL. Williams produced at a high level for both UNLV (2020-2022) and Washington State (2023-2024), and as a big-play specialist he was particularly convincing. Williams' 4.40-second 40-yard dash implies he has the speed to keep winning downfield in the NFL, and the Patriots notably lacked a vertical threat before selecting Williams.

Ramel Keyton: Let go by Vegas
Friday, April 25, 2025 5:19 PM Free Agent

The Raiders waived Keyton on Friday.

Keyton, who joined the Raiders last August as a UDFA out of Tennessee, caught one of his of three targets for seven yards in eight regular-season appearances as a rookie. With Keyton having been let go, look for Las Vegas to add depth at wideout during Day 2 and Day 3 of the ongoing NFL Draft.

Isaiah Spiller: Let go by Raiders
Friday, April 25, 2025 5:15 PM Free Agent

The Raiders waived Spiller on Friday.

Spiller, who the Chargers took in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, last saw regular-season action in 2023. With the Raiders having drafted RB Ashton Jeanty on Thursday, the team elected to part ways with Spiller, who will look to catch on elsewhere as a depth back.

Cole Kmet: Facing target competition
Friday, April 25, 2025 4:53 PM Solo23D

The Bears are looking forward to using both Kmet and first-round draft choice Colston Loveland in two tight-end sets, " Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com reports.

In 2024, Kmet recorded 47 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns on 55 targets, marking his least productive season since his rookie year in 2020. After playing 87 percent of the offensive snaps last season, Kmet now faces significant competition following the first-round selection of Loveland, whose arrival could sharply reduce his role. Although Loveland is expected to be an adequate blocker, the Bears likely drafted the former Michigan standout for his ability to create mismatches in the passing game. Unless the situation shifts during training camp, Kmet may go undrafted in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Travis Hunter: Focusing on offense first
Friday, April 25, 2025 3:51 PM Free Agent

Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Hunter will start off focusing on offense, John Oehser of jaguars.com reports.

It's music to the ears of fantasy managers and Jaguars fans alike, with Hunter -- out of Colorado -- having the chance to earn a starting job on offense and potentially help spark a breakout season for QB Trevor Lawrence. The team wouldn't have given up such a massive haul to move up to No. 2 overall without intent to use Hunter on both sides of the ball, but it's hard to say what that might look like in terms of snap counts (and targets). Jacksonville already has a bona fide No. 1 receiver in Brian Thomas, whose presence arguably reduces the pressure for Hunter to handle large snap counts on offense, although that might not end up mattering long term if Hunter is as good as everyone seems to expect. Coen said Hunter will learn the team's defensive system and take some offseason reps on that side of the ball, even though the Jaguars want offense to be his priority for now.

Will Levis: Trade coming soon?
Friday, April 25, 2025 10:19 AM Free Agent

Levis is a candidate to be traded after Tennessee drafted fellow quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall Thursday night, KLTV's Terry McCormick reports.

The pick was expected for some time beforehand, and the Titans likely would've already moved Levis if they got an offer for something like a mid-round pick. The question now is whether they'll trade him for less than that, creating a fresh start for both parties after back-to-back disastrous seasons for the Tennessee offense since Levis was taken 33rd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Levis turns 26 in June and hasn't shown much on the field that hints at developing into a legitimate NFL starter, but he does have a strong arm, decent mobility and a prototypical build (6-foot-4, 229 pounds).

Jameson Williams: Gets fifth-year option
Friday, April 25, 2025 10:11 AM Up the Gut

The Lions picked up Williams' fifth-year option Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

As expected, Williams is now under contract through 2026, with a projected $15.49 million salary for the fifth and final season of his rookie deal. The Lions may be hesitant to discuss an extension after Williams' breakout third season in 2024, considering his first two NFL campaigns largely were defined by injuries and suspensions. He cleared 1,000 receiving yards on just 91 targets in 15 regular-season games last year, adding 11 carries for 61 yards and a TD, plus two touches for 80 yards and a score in one playoff game. Williams is safe in his starting job but may find it difficult to significantly improve on last year's 6.1 targets per game while sharing the field with WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, TE Sam LaPorta and RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery -- all of whom will be adjusting to new offensive coordinator John Morton, after Ben Johnson left for Chicago's HC job.

Najee Harris: Facing competition from Hampton
Friday, April 25, 2025 10:01 AM Adams Family

Harris has new backfield competition after the Chargers drafted Omarion Hampton at No. 22 overall Thursday night.

At 6-foot, 221 pounds, Hampton is smaller than Harris but larger than most NFL lead backs, and with 4.46 combine speed to boot. It may not be long before he challenges Harris for the starting job, although the veteran almost certainly would retain a role in that scenario, if only for pass blocking and to help keep Hampton fresh. Harris signed a one-year, $5.25 million contract in March, with all of that money guaranteed and another $4 million available via incentives. Compared to other RBs, that can either be viewed as low-end-starter money or the top of the market for backups.

Jaxson Dart: Nabbed by Giants at 25
Thursday, April 24, 2025 11:01 PM Free Agent

The Giants selected Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 25th overall.

The Giants traded back into the first round from their 34th selection, working with Houston at the 25th spot to make Dart the team's second selection of the first round. Quarterback remained a need for the Giants following the third-overall selection of edge defender Abdul Carter, and in theory the acquisition of Dart addresses that concern. Dart (6-foot-2, 223 pounds) was a very successful starter at Mississippi and logged some quality off-the-bench starts for USC as a true freshman before that, and now the Giants will hope he can provide an upgrade over the veteran duo of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Dart offers more rushing ability than most quarterbacks and showed the ability to make some good throws in college, but Dart probably needs to do a better job of executing a play design through its conclusion -- in college he probably dropped his eyes and looked to run a little too easily. If Dart can harness his mobility and accuracy in a more refined form of himself then he could prove to be worth this selection.

Matthew Golden: Packers add burner wideout in first
Thursday, April 24, 2025 10:51 PM Free Agent

The Packers selected Golden in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 23rd overall.

Although Golden probably isn't a prototypical WR1 at just 5-foot-11, 191 pounds, he presents a rare speed element that the Packers lack in the meantime. Golden's 4.29 speed was one of the headlining stories at the combine, and with wheels like that defenses have new reason to reconsider placing the safeties too close to the line of scrimmage. Jayden Reed (4.45-second 40) was the fastest remaining base package wideout for the Packers with Christian Watson (ACL) out indefinitely, so Golden is a good bet to jump into the starting lineup at the expense of either one or both of Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks. Golden was an excellent kick returner at Houston and Texas and could be the same for the Packers, but it would be a disappointment if Golden can't push for at least the WR2 role in Green Bay by the end of his rookie season.
