Mitchell Tinsley: Shines in preseason win
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 3:07 AM Free Agent

Tinsley had two catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns in Monday night's preseason win over the Commanders. He has made an impression in camp prior to Monday night's game as well, being named one of the team captains for the contest, Charlie's Chalkboard reports.

For all of Tinsley's developments and heroics on Monday night, he still faces an uphill battle to make the Bengals' 53-man roster. He would need the Bengals to keep six receivers, behind Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Andrei Iosivas, Jermaine Burton and Charlie Jones. It's more likely that he'll be a practice squad player for the Bengals in the event of an injury, or maybe putting some good reps on tape for other teams scouting the Bengals while looking for a depth piece.

Michael Wilson: Doesn't play Saturday
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 12:26 AM Iheartff

Wilson didn't suit up for Saturday's 27-7 preseason loss in Denver.

The Cardinals held out their key skill-position players in this contest, including WRs Marvin Harrison, Wilson, Greg Dortch and Zay Jones. During a 20-17 win against the Chiefs in preseason Week 1, both Wilson (12 yards) and Harrison (15 yards) were on the receiving end of connections with QB Kyler Murray. After missing time due to a concussion earlier in training camp, Wilson again appears set to slot in as the No. 2 behind Harrison, with the former coming off a 47-548-4 line on 71 targets in 16 regular-season games in his second pro campaign.

Trey Benson: DNP in preseason Week 2
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 12:25 AM Born to Run

Benson didn't play in Saturday's 27-7 preseason loss at Denver.

The Cardinals held out their top two running backs in James Conner and Benson in their second game of exhibition season. This followed a preseason Week 1 win in which Conner started and turned his three carries into 11 yards before yielding the backfield to Benson, who had nine rushes for 29 yards and one 20-yard catch. Conner has expressed that he expects to cede more work to Benson this season after the former dominated RB reps to the tune of 283 touches in 16 regular-season games in 2024, while Benson totaled just 69 in 13 appearances as a third-round rookie.

Marvin Harrison: Better rapport with Murray
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 12:23 AM Menobrown

Harrison and QB Kyler Murray are operating with a greater rapport ahead of the 2025 season, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.

After hooking up with Murray for a 15-yard catch in preseason Week 1 versus the Chiefs, Harrison and the rest of the Cardinals' No. 1 offense didn't suit up this past Saturday at Denver. This followed last Thursday's joint practice in which Murray and Harrison connected on a number of passes against a tough Broncos defense. Harrison is looking to build upon a 62-885-8 line on 116 targets in 17 regular-season games as a rookie, and the 2024 fourth overall pick seems poised to do so based on early returns in training camp and exhibition season.

Kyler Murray: Improving connection with Harrison
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 12:22 AM BarackDHouse

Murray and WR Marvin Harrison have improved their rapport ahead of the 2025 season, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Murray and most of the Cardinals' starting offense played the first two possessions of the team's preseason opener against the Chiefs on Aug. 9, and in the midst of completing seven of eight passes for 96 yards and one interception, he connected with Harrison once for 15 yards among his two targets. During this past Saturday's exhibition loss at Denver, Murray and the No. 1s didn't suit up, but it followed a joint practice last Thursday in which the QB and Harrison hooked up on a handful of passes versus a tough Broncos defense. Arizona didn't make any notable additions to its skill-position group this offseason, so in addition to Harrison, Murray again will have TE Trey McBride, WR Michael Wilson and RBs James Conner and Trey Benson as his top options in 2025.

Noah Fant: Not targeted in preseason win
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 12:17 AM Free Agent

Fant didn't get any targets in Monday's preseason win over Washington.

Fant was part of a TE rotation for the first-string offense, mostly playing alongside Drew Sample in two-TE sets, while Tanner Hudson filled in for Mike Gesicki (hamstring) and got a lot of the work in passing situations with three wide receivers. None of the bunch is likely to have an every-down role in the regular season, nor anything close to it.

Luke McCaffrey: Finishes without a catch
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 12:08 AM Free Agent

McCaffrey started Monday's preseason game against the Bengals but finished without a target.

McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and Jaylin Lane took the WR snaps on Jayden Daniels' lone drive -- a four-play TD march on four rushes. Reports from Washington beat writers suggest McCaffrey has made progress since a disappointing rookie season, and strong work in practice could put him in the mix for Week 1 snaps, especially if Terry McLaurin's contract situation impacts his availability (or September workload). Deebo Samuel is locked in for one starting job, but not much else is clear in Washington's WR room unless McLaurin comes back in a hurry.

Jeremy McNichols: Takes four touches for 13 yards
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 12:05 AM Free Agent

McNichols took three carries for 10 yards and one catch for three yards in Monday's preseason loss to the Bengals.

He was the third RB into the game for Washington for a second straight week, behind Chris Rodriguez and Jacory Croskey-Merritt (while Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler didn't play). There's nonetheless a chance McNichols makes the Week 1 roster, as he's familiar with Kliff Kingsbury's offense and will bump up a spot on the depth chart if the Robinson trade rumors come to fruition. It does seem Rodriguez and Croskey-Merritt are more likely to take over Robinson's role, but McNichols helped fill the gap when Robinson or Ekeler was out last year.

Ben Sinnott: Finishes without a catch
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 12:00 AM BarackDHouse

Sinnott finished without a catch on one target in Monday's preseason loss to the Bengals.

Sinnott was a second-round pick last year, but there hasn't been much hint of him making a push to overtake 33-year-old Zach Ertz, who was among the players rested Monday night. Sinnott took a snap on the opening drive with Jayden Daniels, but only in a multi-TE formation, whereas John Bates was in for every play. It looks like Sinnott may just be the No. 3 TE again unless an injury to Ertz opens up the pass-catching role.

Jaylin Lane: Puts up 42 yards
Monday, August 18, 2025 11:56 PM Free Agent

Lane caught three of six targets for 42 yards in Monday's preseason loss to the Bengals.

Lane, Deebo Samuel and Luke McCaffrey were the wide receivers on Jayden Daniels' lone drive, which resulted in a TD after four consecutive rush attempts (the last being a scramble). Lane caught a 12-yard pass from Josh Johnson on the second drive, and then continued playing well into the third quarter. The rookie fourth-round pick likely will be a backup come Week 1, but there is some chance of a big opportunity opening up if the Commanders can't figure things out with Terry McLaurin, who still isn't practicing after requesting a trade earlier this month.
