McLaughlin will have very little standalone value in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While McLaughlin isn't a recommended fantasy starter this weekend, his touch total in the season opener bodes well for his continued involvement in what looked more like a committee to begin the year.

It wasn't a great day for anyone in the Denver offense, but fantasy managers stashing McLaughlin in deeper leagues have to like the fact that he out-touched Williams and potentially could be the team's preferred third-down back this year. It would be a reach to consider him worth a starting lineup spot in Week 2, though, as the Broncos head home to face the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. caught just three of his seven targets for 21 yards in the team's loss to the Green Bay Packers. This now makes the second week in a row Pittman was the most targeted pass-catcher but has been unable to convert the target share into fantasy production. The Colts' passing offense remains unpredictable, with QB Anthony Richardson at the helm as volume remains relatively low. Although it is another bust of a week for Pittman, he remains the No. 1 option for Richardson which should help ease the worries of fantasy managers. Fantasy managers in more shallow leagues can consider benching him next week until it's seen that he and Richardson's chemistry can materialize. Still, managers in deeper formats can look to include him as a WR3 option in the team's Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. didn't pop on the stat sheet in Week 1, grabbing four catches for 31 yards in the team's loss to the Houston Texans. The good news was that Pittman was the most targeted pass-catcher, totaling eight targets in the contest. The Colts now gear up for a matchup with the Green Bay Packers, who allowed both WRs AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith to have productive showings in Week 1. Pittman's ceiling does remain limited as Indy doesn't implement a high-volume passing game, with the majority of QB Anthony Richardson's production coming on 60+ touchdown passes. While Pittman can be on the receiving end of one of those, he doesn't provide an incredibly safe floor. That being said, fantasy managers can look to target Pittman was a WR2/3 option and hope to see an increase in Indy's passing attack from last week.

Harrison's first score came four minutes into the game as he brought in a 23-yard pass while falling out the back of the end zone. His second touchdown came on a 60-yard catch-and-run on the first play of the Cardinals' next drive. In the days following the rookie's unimpressive debut, offensive coordinator Drew Petzing acknowledged the importance of getting the ball to the fourth-overall pick of the 2024 Draft. The team targeted Harrison early and often, with Harrison seeing six of his team-leading eight targets in the first half. Harrison is shaping up to be a strong WR2 candidate when Arizona plays the Detroit Lions in Week 3.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. had a dud of a debut against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. The fourth overall pick of the NFL draft had just one catch for four yards and wasn't targeted at all in the second half of that game. While the performance was alarming for fantasy managers who paid up to get the vaunted rookie near his ADP of 15, there is hope for improvement in Week 2. Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing admitted earlier this week that the team needs to prioritize getting the rookie more involved going forward. Harrison will again line up on the outside against a Rams secondary that allowed 121 receiving yards to Jameson Williams last Sunday. The former Buckeye can be started against the Rams with tempered expectations. He projects as a WR2 in Week 2.

Arizona Cardinals rookie first-round wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. saw only three targets and caught one of them for four yards in his NFL debut in the Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Jonathan Gannon said that Harrison attracted extra coverage from the Bills defense. "As a quarterback, obviously, you're going through your reads," quarterback Kyler Murray said. "Sometimes the ball goes to him, but that's not my job. I have a sense and a feel for guys when they don't get the ball and when they are getting the ball, but I leave that up to Drew. He tells me, 'Don't worry about that type of stuff. Just keep playing your game and get the ball to where the ball is supposed to go.'" Harrison's quiet day could have been a combination of all those things, and Murray mentioned himself he thinks he and Harrison will eventually get on the same page. Going into Week 2, treat Harrison as a high-end WR2 in fantasy.

X-rays came back negative on Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert's lower right leg on Monday, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. Herbert had his leg rolled up on in the third quarter of the Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, but he quickly returned to the contest and finished out the day under center. The 26-year-old signal-caller isn't dealing with any structural damage but should be considered day-to-day, nonetheless, heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If by chance the Chargers don't clear Herbert to play this weekend, either Easton Stick or Taylor Heinicke would take over as the starting QB. Herbert has been held under 150 yards passing in both of the first two games of the year in LA's new offense, throwing for three touchdowns and one interception. If he plays in Week 3, he'll remain a low-end QB2 against a tough Steelers defense.

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) exited Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers. He played relatively well in Week 2, finishing with 130 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception off 14-for-20 passing, adding six carries for 18 yards. Unfortunately, Herbert sustained an ankle injury, with the signal-caller stating he got "rolled up" during the contest. He was observed limping after the game. Herbert also underwent an X-ray to determine the severity of the injury. However, until the results are released in the next day or two, fantasy managers should prepare heading into the Week 3 outing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he doesn't suit up for that one, Easton Stick is the favorite to take over under center.

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert threw two touchdowns in a Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers. Herbert attempted 20 passes, completing 14 of them for 130 yards. He threw one interception and the two touchdowns, also adding 18 yards on the ground on six carries. Herbert's 20 pass attempts paled in comparison to the 44 rushing attempts by the Chargers offense. This could be the usual pattern for the Bolts this season, as the running game and the defense will be the focus. This will limit Herbert's fantasy production, even if his talent on the field remains close to the top tier of NFL passers.

Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill notched a quieter game in the Week 2 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. He only received four carries compared to Derrick Henry's 18 and hauled in two receptions on two targets. Hill remains the primary back in passing situations, and the Ravens weren't playing from behind in most of this game. That situation is not likely to change as the season rolls on, so his fantasy value will be dependent on the game script. This offense hasn't been able to find a consistent stride yet, so Hill hasn't been able to get any garbage time opportunities either. In Week 3, the Ravens will hit the road and play the Dallas Cowboys, another tougher defense that will test their offensive potential and could translate to more passing work for Hill.

Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill can be left out of fantasy managers' lineups for the team's Week 2 home matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Hill took just one carry for three yards in Baltimore's Week 1 contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also added 52 yards on six catches and eight targets. The fifth-year RB was heavily involved in the Ravens' passing game while tying for second in the team lead in targets and with the third-most receptions and yards. He was clearly the first up in passing situations for the Ravens, but will be challenging to project for such a role weekly. With backfield mate Derrick Henry to take most of the early-down work -- and project for most of the goal-line carries, too -- the 26-year-old RB will be a volatile, game-script-dependent play. He'll be tough to trust in Baltimore's home opener this Sunday.

Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze (knee) had a subdued performance in Week 2 against the Houston Texans, catching only two passes for 33 yards while playing through an injury. With the Bears still struggling to find a passing touchdown after eight quarters of action, Odunze has seen limited volume and no scoring opportunities. The team's offensive line also struggled, with Caleb Williams being sacked seven times, and Williams has yet to throw a touchdown or exceed 200 passing yards in the first two games. Despite the challenges, there is potential for the Bears' offense to improve. However, with just three receptions on nine targets and no touchdowns so far, Odunze is a risky fantasy option. His next chance to make an impact will come in Week 3 against Indianapolis, where he should be on fantasy benches.

As the Bears face the Houston Texans on national television, it sounds like there's a chance they could be without their Nos. 2 and 3 receivers. If only one of the two receivers sit out Sunday's contest, the other would jump to the WR3/FLEX range. If they are both inactive, DeAndre Carter would figure to earn more snaps, but he'd remain off the radar. As of Sunday morning, Schefter notes that Odunze is trending toward playing while Allen will test his injury pregame and could be limited even if he does play.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. showed off his speed in an 18-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns. BTJ finished with 92 yards receiving on just two catches and four targets. The rookie receiver now has four targets in each of the first two games. In a game where the offense struggled, the LSU product produced one of the few highlights with a 66-yard bomb late in the third quarter. While it is great he made a big play and produced a high yardage output, this performance shows exactly the type of volatility fantasy managers can expect out of BTJ. He will not garner many targets each week but has the talent to be a boom-or-bust fantasy receiver. BTJ now has put up two solid fantasy performances in two weeks, with a touchdown in Week 1 and a big yardage total in Week 2. The Jaguars face off with the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, where BTJ will look to continue making big plays in an otherwise stagnant offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is an okay flex play in Week 2 given his big play ability. However, the Cleveland Browns are a tough matchup for passing offenses going back to last year and held Dak Prescott to just 179 passing yards in Week 1. BTJ put up four catches, 47 yards, and a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins last week, making the most of his four targets. That tied for the team lead with Evan Engram and Christian Kirk, but all three trailed Gabe Davis in receiving yards, who had 62. Trevor Lawrence only managed 162 passing yards in Week 1, meaning there is plenty of room for improvement for the offense as a whole. The rookie receiver seems like the top fantasy receiver for the Jaguars for now, but that could easily change after this week. Fantasy managers who are looking for upside are fine to put BTJ in their flex spot, but don't be surprised if he struggles given the tough matchup and the natural volatility of rookie receivers.

The Jaguars passing attack struggled overall, but BTJ was a lone bright spot, catching Trevor Lawrence's only passing touchdown on the day in the second quarter. The rookie wide receiver had four targets, tied for the team lead position with Christian Kirk and Evan Engram, who each mustered only one catch. While rookie WRs tend to be volatile early in the season (see Xavier Worthy and Marvin Harrison Jr.), the LSU product has a chance to step up and become a reliable option in the Jacksonville passing game. In the future, the first-round rookie should be viewed as an upside FLEX option that could easily disappoint. BTJ faces off with the Cleveland Browns secondary in Week 2, who held CeeDee Lamb to just five catches for 61 yards.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir caught all five of his targets for 54 yards and added one rush for two yards on Thursday Night Football. Josh Allen, who completed just 13 passes on the night, targeted Shakir early. Five of Shakir's six touches came in the first half as Buffalo built their lead. Thanks to James Cook and a stifling defense, the Bills were up 21 points midway through the third quarter and didn't need to throw to maintain their dominant victory. The 24-year-old appears to be the safest Buffalo receiver to roster in fantasy football. He'll be a low-end WR3 when the Bills host the Jaguars on Monday Night Football in Week 3.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir scored a touchdown in Week 1, but that's all he did to excite fantasy managers. Three catches (on three targets) won't cut it as a flex-worthy option every week, because the touchdowns won't stay consistent. That's the problem facing Buffalo wide receivers. Josh Allen will score a lot of fantasy points and throw the football up and down the field. The matchup against Miami is forecasted to be one of the highest-scoring games of the Week 2 slate. It's just difficult to predict who, if anyone, will command the lion's share of targets. Nine different receivers caught a pass from Allen in Week 1. If it's a winning formula, why deviate? Shakir is the safest of the Bills' wide receivers, but target distribution will likely cap his upside.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir caught three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the team's 34-28 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. His score came on a screen pass from 11 yards out late in the third quarter to give the Bills the lead for good. The touchdown saved what was a low-volume, mediocre stat line. Shakir earned three targets, two fewer than rookie Keon Coleman and the same number as running back James Cook. Nine different receivers recorded a catch on Sunday as Josh Allen spread his 23 completions throughout the offense. The target distribution will prevent Shakir from being much more than a WR4 when the Bills travel to Miami for Thursday Night Football in Week 2.
