Malik Davis: Will undergo hip surgery
Friday, September 11, 2026 9:09 PM

Davis is slated to have surgery on his injured hip Saturday and is expected to be placed on IR, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Davis hurt his hip during practice Friday, and the issue is severe enough to require surgery. It's not yet clear how much time the tailback will miss, but it's very possible that he'll be sidelined for most, if not all, of the 2026 campaign. The injury is an awful break for Davis, who had been slated to serve as Dallas' No. 2 running back after working mostly on special teams (and spending considerable time on the practice squad) early in his career. Emari Demercado will likely now slide into that backup role behind Javonte Williams, and Dallas figures to make a move to add another ball carrier to the roster ahead of Sunday's Week 1 matchup versus the Giants.

Stetson Bennett: Plays one drive in blowout loss
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:28 PM

Bennett completed two of three passes for 13 yards and rushed once for nine yards in the Rams' 27-7 Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

Bennett came into the game for the Rams' last offensive possession once the game was officially out of reach. The quarterback had a quick night but converted all of his series before running out of time after 10 total plays.

Danny Gray: Lands on PS injured list
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:27 PM

The Eagles placed Gray (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Friday.

It's unclear what type of injury Gray is working through, nor when he picked it up, but his placement on the injured list means he is not eligible to be called up to the active roster for at least four games. The Eagles signed Xavier Gipson to the practice squad in a corresponding move.

Jacob Cowing: Handles two punt returns in Week 1
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:26 PM

Cowing returned two punts for 17 yards in the 49ers' 27-7 win over the Rams in Week 1.

Cowing also saw five snaps on offense but wasn't' targeted by Brock Purdy. With De'Zhaun Stribling (ankle) injured against the Rams and Ricky Pearsall (knee) out for the season, Cowing is looking like the Niners' current WR4 behind Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel and Demarcus Robinson.

Xavier Gipson: Latches onto Philadelphia's practice squad
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:23 PM

The Eagles signed Gipson to the practice squad Friday.

The move corresponds with the Eagles placing Danny Gray (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list. Gipson spent time with the Eagles, Giants and Jets during the 2025 regular season, logging two catches for six yards, 319 yards on 12 kickoff returns and 86 yards on eight punt returns across seven games. Gipson's chances of being promoted to the active roster would increase if the Eagles needed another returner on game day.

Ronnie Rivers: Handles six touches in Week 1
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:23 PM

Rivers rushed five times for 19 yards and caught one pass for five yards in the Rams' 27-7 loss to the 49ers in Week 1.

With the Rams getting blown out by 20 points in the fourth quarter, Rivers saw eight offensive snaps late in the game and piled up six touches on his minimal playing time. He's the RB3 behind Kyren Williams and Blake Corum.

Konata Mumpfield: Draws just one target Thursday
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:23 PM

Mumpfield did not catch his only target during the Rams' 27-7 loss against the 49ers in Week 1.

Mumpfield lined up for 16 of the Rams' 61 offensive snaps in Week 1, and he played six snaps on special teams. As long as two-time Pro Bowler Puka Nacua and veteran Davante Adams are available, there likely won't be room for any other Rams wide receivers to draw many targets.

Xavier Smith: Plays 16 offensive snaps in Week 1
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:21 PM

Smith played 16 of 61 offensive snaps in the Rams' 27-7 loss to the 49ers in Week 1.

Smith is the Rams' punt returner and returned one for 11 yards. He also gained 25 yards on one kick return. His offensive snaps were elevated late in the game when the Rams pulled their starters. Smith has next to no fantasy value.

KhaDarel Hodge: Reverts to practice squad
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:20 PM

Hodge reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Hodge played just one offensive snap in Thursday's 27-7 victory over the Rams in Melbourne, Australia. The wide receiver played 12 more snaps on special teams, where he recorded two tackles on kick coverage. The 31-year-old veteran player will likely see more action throughout the season as a special teams plug-and-play option for the 49ers.

Jordan Whittington: Catches one pass in Week 1
Friday, September 11, 2026 8:18 PM

Whittington caught his lone target for eight yards in the Rams' 27-7 loss to the 49ers in Week 1.

Whittington played 25 of 61 offensive snaps but saw his playing time elevated some late in the fourth quarter after the Rams pulled their starters. He also saw 13 snaps on special teams, returning four kicks for 94 yards. Whittington would need some injuries ahead of him to gain any fantasy relevance.
