Jaxon Smith-Njigba: Limited on first Week 6 report
Monday, October 12, 2026 4:28 PM

Smith-Njigba was estimated as a limited practice participant Monday due to an ankle injury, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

With Seattle turning around quickly after Sunday's game, any issue for Smith-Njigba would be notable, given his central role in the passing attack.

Tyson Bagent: Role uncertain for Week 3
Monday, October 12, 2026 4:20 PM

Head coach Ben Johnson said Monday that a decision hasn't been made regarding whether Bagent, Case Keenum or Caleb Williams (hamstring) will take reps with the first-team offense during the Bears' first Week 6 practice Wednesday, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Williams will take back the starting job once fully healthy, but after missing the Bears' last three games due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, it's not yet clear if he'll be ready to direct the offense Week 6 in Atlanta. Bagent has started the last two games, but after managing the Bears to a 23-12 win over the Jets in Week 4, he regressed badly in a 31-7 loss to the Packers in Week 5. The 26-year-old completed just 12 of 21 passes for 87 yards and two interceptions before being benched in favor of Case Keenum in the fourth quarter. As a result of the poor outing, Bagent could be at risk of dropping all the way to third on the depth chart this week if Williams is cleared to play.

Jalen Nailor: On track to practice this week
Monday, October 12, 2026 4:11 PM

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said Monday that Nailor (concussion) is expected to practice this week, Sam Warren of The Athletic reports.

After sustaining a concussion in the Raiders' Oct. 4 loss to the Chiefs, Nailor wasn't able to practice in any fashion in Week 5 before being ruled out ahead of Sunday's eventual 45-17 loss to the Patriots. Nailor remains in concussion protocol, but he looks poised to take a step forward by getting back on the practice field Wednesday as at least a limited participant. So long as he upgrades to full participation by the end of the week and gains clearance from an independent neurologist, Nailor should be ready to handle a starting role at receiver in Sunday's matchup with the Bills.

Rico Dowdle: Expected back for Week 6
Monday, October 12, 2026 4:07 PM

Steelers offensive coordinator Brian Angelichio said Monday that he anticipates Dowdle (toe) returning to action Week 6 against the Buccaneers, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.

Though he managed three limited practices in Week 5, Dowdle ultimately missed a third straight game in Sunday's eventual 34-22 win over the Colts. The Steelers seem optimistic that Dowdle will upgrade to full practice participation at some point in Week 6 to put him on a path to play against Tampa Bay, but if available, the 28-year-old could be ticketed for limited snaps in a backup role. Jaylen Warren has accounted for 490 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns across the past three games, with his performance prompting head coach Mike McCarthy to label him Monday as the featured option out of the backfield, per Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. McCarthy previously suggested that Warren and Dowdle would form a "one-two punch" out of the backfield when both were healthy, but Warren's stellar play has changed that plan.

DeVonta Smith: Chance to return for Week 6
Monday, October 12, 2026 3:59 PM

Head coach Nick Sirianni expressed hope Monday that Smith (hamstring) would return for this Sunday's game against the Panthers, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.

Smith has missed the Eagles' last two games due to a hamstring injury, and the Eagles were also without Saquon Barkley (hamstring) for their 19-17 Week 5 loss to the Jaguars in London. Smith has been limited to side work over the last couple of weeks, but a return to practice during Week 6 prep, even in a limited capacity, would be a positive step in his rehab program. Dontayvion Wicks and Makai Lemon will continue to be the Eagles' top wide receivers in Smith's absence, though Darius Cooper appears to have been the biggest beneficiary of Smith's injury, with Cooper logging a 5-104-3 receiving line (on 10 targets) over his last two games.

Saquon Barkley: Could return for Week 6
Monday, October 12, 2026 3:54 PM

Head coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that he's "hopeful" that both Barkley (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (hamstring) will both be cleared to play against the Panthers on Sunday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.

Barkley was sidelined for Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Jaguars in London due to a right hamstring injury that he sustained during the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Rams. Wednesday will be the first Eagles practice of Week 6 prep, and even a limited session would have Barkley trending toward a return against Carolina. Will Shipley was diagnosed with a partial tear of his plantar fascia following Sunday's game, and with Barkley and Tank Bigsby (abdomen, IR) both sidelined, that currently leaves Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele as the two healthy running backs on the Eagles' 53-man roster.

Deebo Samuel: Expected to miss a couple of weeks
Monday, October 12, 2026 3:45 PM

Samuel is expected to miss at least a couple weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the 49ers' 32-29 win over the Seahawks on Sunday, David Lombardi of the San Francisco Standard reports.

Samuel underwent an MRI on his hamstring following Sunday's game, and the results showed an injury significant enough for the veteran wide receiver to warrant a multi-week absence. The 49ers are on a bye in Week 8, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Samuel sidelined for the next two games and before returning for Week 9 against the Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 8, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com. Christian Kirk (calf) isn't quite ready to return from IR, so Brandin Cooks, Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins are candidates step into the WR2 role behind Mike Evans for as long as Samuel is sidelined.

Ja'Kobi Lane: Could return to practice Wednesday
Monday, October 12, 2026 3:32 PM

Head coach Jesse Minter said Monday that the Ravens could designate Lane (wrist) to return from injured reserve as soon as Wednesday, Jonas Shaffer of the Baltimore Banner reports.

The rookie third-rounder's offseason momentum was stymied when he fractured his wrist during the Ravens' Week 1 win over the Colts. Minter noted that Lane has kept up his conditioning while on IR, and there's a chance that the 22-year-old wideout could be back on the field for practice as soon as Wednesday, though it's unclear whether he'll be cleared to return for Week 6 against the Browns on Oct. 18.

Jaylen Warren: Leader of Pittsburgh's backfield
Monday, October 12, 2026 3:27 PM

Head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that he views Warren as "our featured player right now," Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

During the offseason, McCarthy said that he viewed the Steelers' backfield as a 50-50 split between Warren and Rico Dowdle (toe). However, Warren has solidified his RB1 role over the Steelers' last three games with Dowdle on the sidelines, with the former accumulating 490 yards and two touchdowns on 61 touches (49 carries, 12 catches on 16 targets) in that span. It appears Warren is the clear lead back for the Steelers even Dowdle returns, which could happen as soon as this Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Roman Wilson: Won't play Week 6 vs. Tampa Bay
Monday, October 12, 2026 3:17 PM

Head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Wilson (finger) will not play against the Buccaneers on Sunday, Nick Farabaugh of SteelersNow.com reports.

Wilson is set to miss at least a couple of weeks due to a finger injury that he sustained during the Steelers' 34-22 win over the Colts on Sunday, so it's not surprising to see him already ruled out for Week 6. There's a chance he could return for Week 7 against the Saints on Sunday, Oct. 25, but in the absence of both Wilson and Michael Pittman (foot, IR), the Steelers will rely more heavily on DK Metcalf, rookie Germie Bernard, running back Jaylen Warren and tight end Pat Freiermuth in the passing game.
