Blake Grupe: Won't be starting kicker Week 1
Saturday, September 12, 2026 5:14 PM

Grupe will not be the Jets' starting kicker for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Titans, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

It looked like Grupe would be the Jets' starter for 2026 after he was claimed off waivers from the Colts on Aug. 31. However, the Jets have opted to elevate Jason Sanders from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday, so Grupe figures to be inactive for Week 1. Grupe made all 11 of his field-goal attempts and each of his 10 extra-point tries over his final five games of the 2025 regular season as a member of the Colts.

Braxton Berrios: Gets elevated from practice squad
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:46 PM

The Giants elevated Berrios from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

Berrios was among New York's roster cuts on Aug. 30, but he found himself back on the team's practice squad one day later, with an expectation that he'd have a Week 1 role. If Malik Nabers (knee) is inhibited or not able to suit up Sunday night, Berrios could be a factor on offense, but his most likely path to snaps is as a returner, as he's averaged 24.9 yards per kick return and 11.3 yards per punt return during his seven-year career.

DeeJay Dallas: Elevated for Sunday
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:46 PM

The Vikings elevated Dallas from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports.

Dallas signed with the Vikings on Sept. 2 after being released by the Jaguars during cutdown day. The running back will likely provide a special teams presence in Sunday's game against the Packers with minimal offensive usage.

Nick Muse: Elevated for Sunday
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:35 PM

The Falcons elevated Muse from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.

Muse was likely elevated as an additional blocker for field-goal attempts and PATs. The entire Falcons tight end corps, consisting of Kyle Pitts, Charlie Woerner and Austin Hooper is fully healthy, meaning Muse will likely be useful only as a special teams addition during Sunday's contest with the Steelers.

Josh Williams: Elevated to active roster
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:32 PM

The Buccaneers elevated Williams from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

Williams is set to suit up as a reserve running back for the Buccaneers' Sunday contest against the Bengals. The rusher will likely take reserve snaps behind Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell in place of Sean Tucker (hamstring), who is doubtful to play in Sunday's game.

C.J. Stroud: Extension talks paused
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:30 PM

Stroud and the Texans will wait until after the 2026 season to work out a long-term contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The two sides attempted to reach an agreement prior to Sunday's regular-season opener against the Bills. However, it looks like talks between Stroud and the Texans have stalled, and a long-term deal will be revisited following the conclusion of the upcoming season. Entering his fourth year in the NFL, Stroud is looking to reclaim the same form he had in his rookie campaign in 2023, when he was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year after completing 63.9 percent of his passes for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions across 15 regular-season games while adding 39 carries for 167 yards and three scores.

Britain Covey: Elevated for Week 1
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:29 PM

The Eagles elevated Covey from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

With the entirety of the Eagles' wide receiver corps healthy, Covey was likely elevated for his value on special teams. There is a good chance Covey takes punt and kick return reps away from Makai Lemon and Will Shipley, keeping the wide receiver and running back fresh for offensive possessions.

Nick Mullens: Elevated for Week 1
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:21 PM

The Jaguars elevated Mullens from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

Mullens will likely serve as the emergency No. 3 quarterback if Trevor Lawrence and Quinn Ewers both go down in Sunday's game against the Browns. Mullens will only be eligible for two more practice squad elevations this regular season, so this is not a role the quarterback can fill perpetually.

Frank Gore: Elevated for Sunday
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:18 PM

The Bills elevated Gore from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

Gore has been a practice squad staple for the Bills over the past two years. The running back has likely been elevated to the active roster as a depth precaution for a scenario in which Ty Johnson (hamstring) cannot suit up for Sunday's game against the Texans. If Johnson is good to go, Gore will likely be inactive on game day.

Greg Dortch: Elevated for Week 1
Saturday, September 12, 2026 4:15 PM

The Bills elevated Dortch from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

Dortch joined the Bills' practice squad on Aug. 31 after being released by the Lions. The wide receiver has likely been elevated to handle punt return duties, with the team's current listed returner being starting slot cornerback Dee Alford.
