The 26-year-old signal-caller isn't dealing with any structural damage but should be considered day-to-day, nonetheless, heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If by chance the Chargers don't clear Herbert to play this weekend, either Easton Stick or Taylor Heinicke would take over as the starting QB. Herbert has been held under 150 yards passing in both of the first two games of the year in LA's new offense, throwing for three touchdowns and one interception. If he plays in Week 3, he'll remain a low-end QB2 against a tough Steelers defense.

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook caught one touchdown and ran for two more in the team's dominant victory over Miami on Thursday Night Football. He totaled 95 yards and is now an early favorite to be the RB1 in Week 2. Cook started the scoring with a 17-yard reception on fourth down on the Bills' first drive. A few drives later, Cook punched it in from the one-yard line, a rare site in his young career. Finally, he sprinted away from defenders on a 49-yard touchdown run up the middle. Cook has now matched his rushing touchdown total from last season. His night could have been bigger but the Bills remained up three touchdowns throughout the entire fourth quarter and let rookie Ray Davis burn the clock. Cook will be in the RB1 range when the Bills take the field against Jacksonville a week from Monday.

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook may not get the red zone opportunities that fantasy managers love, but he'll get plenty of touches elsewhere on the field. Although on the field for just over 60% of Buffalo's snaps in Week 1, James Cook dominated backfield touches. He carried the ball 19 times and caught three passes. Rookie Ray Davis got four touches while veteran Ty Johnson received two. With offensive coordinator Joe Brady's reliance on the running game since he took the helm, Cook is in line for another 15-20 touch game. Consider Cook a low-end RB1 against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook rushed for 71 yards on 19 attempts while adding 32 yards on three catches in the team's Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Cook dominated the running back touches (22), compared to four for rookie Ray Davis and two for Ty Johnson. Unfortunately, as was the story often in 2023, Josh Allen accounted for the team's two rushing touchdowns from within the 10-yard line. That left Cook with good yardage but no scores. Expect another game of 15-20 touches when the Bills take on the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. A lack of goal-line opportunities will continue to cap his upside.

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston scored two touchdowns in a Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers. Johnston led the team in targets, catches, yards, and scores in the easy win. He was targeted six times, making five catches for 51 yards and the two touchdowns. His first score came from 29 yards out in the first quarter and he followed it up with another touchdown in the second quarter from five yards out. The Chargers only attempted 20 passes compared to 44 rush attempts, and that looks like the pattern they'll follow most of the time going forward. Johnston could finally be working his way into fantasy relevance, but the Chargers pass catchers will be hard to project each week.

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones took nine carries for 32 yards in the team's 23-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. He also caught 5-of-6 targets for an additional 36 yards. Jones was out-produced by backup Ty Chandler on the ground in this one (82 yards) and received one less carry than the 26-year-old, but was able to salvage his fantasy day with his work in the passing game. The former Green Bay Packer has led the Vikings backfield through two games, out-touching his running mate 30-to-21 and out-gaining him 177-to-124 while scoring the lone touchdown between the two. This week's rushing split is slightly concerning for managers of the 29-year-old veteran, though it is unclear whether or not it's prescriptive moving forward. Continue to fire Jones up as a mid-to-low-end RB2 on a surprisingly effective Minnesota offense in advance of his Week 3 tilt against the Houston Texans.

The 29-year-old rusher rewarded the team with an impressive day with five different carries of ten yards or more. Jones is building off of the end of last season, where he had several games with 100 offensive yards after his 2023 injury, and is hopeful to continue to pay the team dividends. Despite the solid performance, Jones is a low-end RB2 in a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones is optimistic about having a standout season, crediting the team's training staff for potentially preparing him for the best year of his career. Jones noted that he feels the "I'm ready to have the best year of my career" heading into a new season, thanks in part to a 30-45 minute "prehab" routine given to him before practices. Despite his impressive durability in the previous four seasons, where he played 62 of 66 games, Jones missed six last season due to hamstring and knee injuries. Once he was healthy, he made a significant impact, surpassing 100 rushing yards in his final five games and helping the Packers nearly advance to the NFC Championship Game. During that stretch, Jones carried the ball 102 times for 584 yards, becoming a crucial part of the offense. While it's important not to overvalue Jones based on past performance alone, he remains a strong RB2 option in fantasy leagues if drafted at the right price. He doesn't have the strongest leg in the NFL in terms of distance, but he's shown excellent accuracy and was the overall K10 in fantasy last season. He's a top-10 option again for Week 2 lineups.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy fell short in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium. Purdy finished the game having completed 28 of 36 passes for 319 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He added two scrambles for 12 yards on the ground. Minnesota's defense kept the pressure on Purdy all afternoon, as he found himself absorbing a career-high six sacks. Purdy did make many quality throws and his lone interception came from a nice defensive deflection that may have been a simple incompletion if the ball hadn't popped upward in traffic over the middle. Purdy's other turnover happened when the ball slipped out of his hands as he threw and went directly to a waiting Jihad Ward, being ruled a fumble. Today's game represents the second disappointment in a row for fantasy owners. Next up for the 24-year-old signal-caller is a road matchup versus the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will try to pick up a second-straight win in a Week 2 matchup versus the Vikings in Minnesota on Sunday. He'll be going up against a defense that was almost exactly league-average in 2023 for fantasy points per game allowed to opposing quarterbacks, but who held Purdy to 272 yards, two interceptions, and one touchdown last year (albeit without stud tackle Trent Williams and receiver Deebo Samuel). The Vikings made mostly minor changes to their defensive personnel in the offseason, most notably losing standout edge rusher Danielle Hunter and replacing him with first-round pick Dallas Turner. In their opener last week, the Vikings made New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones look horrible but how much credit goes to the defense versus Jones' ineptitude is debatable. Last week, Purdy was solid but rather unhelpful for fantasy managers in a home victory over the New York Jets, with 231 yards passing, 11 yards rushing, and no touchdowns or picks. At any rate, he'll have his whole complement of receivers in this one -- save for running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) -- so Purdy should be in for a decent day, especially with wideout Brandon Aiyuk getting another week of practice under his belt. Look for Purdy to find the end zone in Week 2, as he sits on the fantasy QB1/2 border.

The 49ers ran 70 plays compared to the Jets' 49. As the season progresses, expect Purdy to deliver higher-scoring performances, with his next opportunity coming against the Vikings on Sunday.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown had a rough showing in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. After an uneventful performance in Week 1 versus the Patriots, Brown finished Week 2 with just four carries for 31 yards. He also was held without a catch. Zack Moss was still the top rusher out of the backfield, with the 26-year-old going for 34 yards off 12 touches. While Moss may find himself in the doghouse at some point if he doesn't turn things around, Brown will need to prove his value to managers before working his way back into fantasy lineups. Keep him on the bench in Week 3 versus the Commanders.

He was a popular option in fantasy drafts heading into the 2023-24 campaign, often getting selected over Zack Moss. However, Chase didn't get anything going in Week 1, finishing with only 11 yards off three carries, adding three catches for 12 yards. With that said, Moss, who ended the day by amassing 44 yards and a touchdown off nine touches, appears to be the preferred option out of the backfield for Cincinnati. As a result, Brown isn't the safest fantasy option in Week 2 against the Chiefs, although there's still a chance he could get more involved than he was in the opener.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a career day in New England on Sunday. Smith-Njigba caught 12 passes for 117 yards. Both marks were career highs. It was also Smith-Njigba's first career 100-yard game. Fantasy managers had high expectations for Smith-Njigba coming into this season with a new Seahawks regime. If Smith-Njigba keeps up the trust of quarterback Geno Smith, then this could be the start of a great season for the second-year wide receiver. Smith-Njigba draws a solid matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba came out hot against the Denver Broncos in Week 1 with two receptions on the same drive in the first quarter. Smith-Njigba did not draw a target from that point on and finished with two receptions for 19 yards. Smith-Njigba was on the field for 79% of the offensive snaps but that number might have been inflated because of wide receiver Tyler Lockett coming off a thigh injury. The Seahawks offense did not really click until the second half of the game. Lockett and running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) enjoyed most of that production. Smith-Njigba will have to hope the offense is productive from the opening kickoff in Week 2. For now, wait and see how Smith-Njigba fares before deploying him in fantasy.

However, Smith-Njigba only earned one more target for the rest of the game. The Seahawks offense as a whole was quiet for the first two quarters and a half. Once the offense got going, it was the Tyler Lockett show in the passing game. Smith-Njigba has a lot of promise in 2024. If the Seahawks offense can play like it did in the second half of Sunday's game, then Smith-Njigba should begin to display solid flex value.
