DJ Giddens: Listed as No. 3 RB
Monday, August 4, 2025 11:20 PM

Giddens is listed as the No. 3 running back on the Colts' first unofficial depth chart of the preseason.

He's behind starter Jonathan Taylor and Tyler Goodson. While Giddens is seen having a strong camp so far, Goodson could be given deference as a returning veteran or may be listed as the second back because he could have a role on passing downs if Jonathan Taylor is healthy. Giddens may be the more likely candidate for the bulk of carries if Taylor were to get hurt, though Khalil Herbert also could be in the mix.

Tyler Goodson: Listed as No. 2 RB
Monday, August 4, 2025 11:14 PM

Goodson is listed as the No. 2 running back on the Colts' first unofficial depth chart of the preseason.

Goodson is listed ahead of both DJ Giddens and Khalil Herbert. He could be given deference as a returning veteran or may be listed as the second back because he could have a role on passing downs if Jonathan Taylor is healthy. However, Giddens is seen having a stronger camp so far and would likely get the most work if Taylor were to get hurt.

Kye Robichaux: Waived with injury designation
Monday, August 4, 2025 10:28 PM

The Lions waived Robichaux (undisclosed) with an injury designation Monday.

Assuming Robichaux clears waivers, he'll revert to the Lions' injured reserve list and miss the 2025 season unless he's later cut with an injury settlement. Robichaux signed with Detroit as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College back in April.

Dominic Lovett: Exits practice with abdominal issue
Monday, August 4, 2025 9:34 PM

Lovett exited Monday's practice with an abdominal injury and was unable to return, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Lovett was a seventh-round pick out of Georgia, 244th overall, by the Lions back in April. He can't afford to miss many valuable reps he'd be getting in practice and the preseason. Lovett played 36 offensive snaps in last week's Hall of Fame Game against the Chargers, securing five of nine targets for 31 yards.

Tyler Huntley: Another QB lands in Cleveland
Monday, August 4, 2025 9:22 PM

Huntley signed with the Browns on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The signing comes as Kenny Pickett (hamstring), Dillon Gabriel (hamstring) and Shedeur Sanders (shoulder) are all dealing with injuries, per Schefter. In 2024, Huntley spent time with the Browns and appeared in five games with the Dolphins, recording 829 passing yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions. The quarterback would likely need a long-term injury to one or more of the Browns' current QBs to have a chance to stick with the team, as Joe Flacco appears to be the leader in the clubhouse for the starting role, and Gabriel and Sanders were both selected by Cleveland in the 2025 Draft.

D.J. Williams: Waived with injury settlement
Monday, August 4, 2025 8:44 PM

Williams (undisclosed) was waived from injured reserve with an injury settlement by the Bucs on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

The running back signed a reserve/future contract in January after spending 2024 on Tampa Bay's practice squad. Williams was elevated for one game last year, seeing eight special-teams snaps. He'll now have to look for his next opportunity elsewhere.

Andy Isabella: Exits practice Monday
Monday, August 4, 2025 8:32 PM

Isabella left practice Monday with an undisclosed injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

The wide receiver signed with the 49ers on Thursday with the possibility of competing for a depth spot in a crowded receiver room. At the same time, Isabella was not able to elevate from Pittsburgh's practice squad in 2024, got cut by the Bills before last season and last caught an NFL pass in 2022 with the Cardinals. Any missed time will naturally hurt his chances of latching on to a roster spot.

Christian Watson: Looking good in recovery
Monday, August 4, 2025 8:02 PM

Watson, who is expected to begin the season on the reserve/PUP list, currently doesn't appear to be a player recovering from a torn ACL, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.

Watson suffered an ACL tear in his right knee Week 18 of last season, but he appears to have made significant strides in his recovery considering how he's moving about. Despite the positive state of the situation, he opened training camp on the active/PUP list and seems destined to move to reserve/PUP once cut-down day arrives on Aug. 26. The Packers' medical staff is overly cautious with rehabs from serious injuries, so even if he could suit up during the first four weeks of the upcoming campaign, there's a good chance he'll continue to build up strength in his right leg, which previously was plagued by hamstring issues, with the aim to deploy him at some point in the first half of the season.

Zay Jones: First-teamer on initial depth chart
Monday, August 4, 2025 7:46 PM

Jones is listed among the first-team offense on the Cardinals' first unofficial depth chart of training camp, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.

Such depth charts need to be taken with a grain of salt, considering they're put together by media relations staff. Nevertheless, it's somewhat notable to see him and not Greg Dortch listed among the starters, especially after the former managed just eight catches and 240 offensive snaps in 11 games last season (as opposed to Dortch's 37 and 407, respectively, in 17 contests). Dortch operates primarily out of the slot, though, so the fact he's listed as the No. 2 behind Michael Wilson (concussion) indicates Wilson may have more of an even split between outside and slot reps in 2025. In such a scenario, Jones could take advantage as an outside option alongside No. 1 Marvin Harrison (knee/illness).

Nick Vannett: Signs with Minnesota
Monday, August 4, 2025 7:43 PM

Vannett signed with the Vikings on Monday.

The 10-year veteran landed with a team that is suddenly needy at his position, with Gavin Bartholomew still down with an ankle injury and T.J. Hockenson missing practice Saturday with an undisclosed issue, per Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com. Vannett played on 374 offensive snaps in 17 regular-season games with the Titans last year, catching 17 passes for 135 yards and three scores.
