The Rams have struggled to stop the run in the young season, allowing the third-most half-PPR points to running backs. Last week, they let Arizona's James Connor go for 122 yards and a touchdown. Before that, in Detroit, David Montgomery and Gibbs combined for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Mason began the season in relative obscurity as Christian McCaffrey's backup but in the absence of CMC (Achilles), he has skyrocketed to high-end RB1 and must-start status in Week 3.

Mason once again looked the part of a Shanahan zone running back, showing vision and burst with a one-cut downhill style throughout the game. With Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) out for the season and All-Pro starter Christian McCaffrey out until at least Week 6 and possibly even longer, those who have rostered Mason have to be excited about what he's doing with the keys to the backfield. Mason will run up against the Rams in Los Angeles in Week 3 next Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason will draw another start when the team clashes with the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday. Treat Mason as a back-end RB1 in Week 2.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (hand) is off the injury report and is set to play on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. The 26-year-old wideout did not practice on Wednesday due to a hand injury but returned as a full participant on Thursday. He now enters the weekend without an injury designation. Fantasy managers should expect Metcalf to serve as the No.1 option for Geno Smith this weekend. After catching only three passes in the opening week, Metcalf caught ten passes for 129 yards and a score against the New England Patriots last week. Fantasy managers should view Metcalf as a high-end WR2 this weekend and should be locked into all starting lineups.

A day after sitting out of the first practice of the week, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (hand) practiced in full on Thursday. As long as Metcalf doesn't suffer a setback with his hand on Friday, he should be good to go to play in Week 3 versus the Miami Dolphins at Lumen Field. The Dolphins defense has been pretty solid against opposing wideouts so far this year, but Metcalf should be considered a must-start in fantasy as long as he's active this Sunday. The 26-year-old pass-catcher was quiet in the season-opening win over the Denver Broncos with three catches for 29 yards before going off for 10 receptions (14 targets) for 129 yards and his first score of 2024 in last week's overtime victory over the New England Patriots.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (hand) did not participate in practice on Wednesday. The star pass-catcher bounced back from a quiet season opener by catching 10 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown last Sunday. Now, as the Seahawks begin preparation for Week 3 versus the Miami Dolphins, Metcalf is nursing an injury. As of now, it's too early to say whether he might miss Sunday's contest. It's possible Seattle is being extra cautious with Metcalf and just giving him extra time to rest or heal. On the other hand, it's always a concern when a player misses practice. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as NFL Sunday gets closer. If he plays, he's a strong WR2 option.

Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz led the Commanders with 62 yards (on four receptions) in their victory over the New York Giants last week. Ertz served as a go-to option for the rookie QB all afternoon and looks to reclaim that same role against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Commanders lack a proven No.2 pass catcher, allowing running back Austin Ekeler and Ertz to have productive fantasy games. Fantasy managers should expect Ertz to see a solid workload in a game where the Commanders will likely be trailing, as they are currently 7.5-point underdogs. Ertz may not have a lot of upside, but he does provide a safe floor at a position that is filled with several injuries to top options like George Kittle (hamstring), Evan Engram (hamstring), and David Njoku (ankle).

Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz led the team in receiving with 62 yards on four catches in their Week 2 victory over the New York Giants. This was an excellent bounce-back effort for the veteran tight end, as he caught only three passes for 28 yards in his Washington debut. Ertz was not used as a check-down option but instead was used in a vertical capacity, as he averaged 15.5 yards per catch with a high of 21 yards. This was a promising effort for the veteran as he continues to emerge as the No.2 pass-catching option in the Commanders air attack. The 33-year-old could be worth a look as a stash option going forward, given his role on the offense and safe floor he could produce weekly.

Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz caught three of his four targets for 28 yards in their Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite the modest output, Ertz saw 24.0% of the team's air yards and 16.7% of the team's targets. In addition, the veteran logged 39 total snaps, just under 70% of the team's total snaps. As rookie QB Jayden Daniels continues to develop at the professional level, the 33-year-old should continue to establish a connection with him and serve as a safety valve in the middle of the field. For now, Ertz should just be deployed in DFS settings as a cheap value play, as he has not yet proven that he should be relied upon in a redraft setting.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 3 versus the New Orleans Saints. He exited the game in the second half. At the time of his departure, he had caught seven of 10 targets for 79 yards. Smith had earned an uptick in targets lately with A.J. Brown (hamstring) sidelined. Now, Philadelphia will be without both of its top two receivers for the end of Sunday's game and perhaps beyond. Tight end Dallas Goedert figures to be the centerpiece of the passing game while receivers Johnny Wilson, Jahan Dotson, and Parris Campbell also get involved. The Eagles face the Buccaneers next weekend before heading into a Week 5 bye.

The 25-year-old did a fine job filling in as the No. 1 receiving option last week against the Atlanta Falcons as A.J. Brown (hamstring) was out. Smith caught seven of 10 targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in the contest and is in line for a similar target share this week against the Saints with Brown expected to miss once again. New Orleans' defense has been great through two weeks, but they are not unstoppable through the air. They have allowed the 14th-most passing yards this year and allowed CeeDee Lamb to gain 90 yards on just four receptions last week. Chunk plays are Smith's specialty, and he has the chance to have them in what should be a competitive game Sunday. Consider the Eagles' young receiver a top-tier WR2 with top-12 upside in Week 3.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith caught seven of 10 targets for 76 yards and a touchdown during the team's 22-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. With A.J. Brown (hamstring) out for this game, and likely a few more, the Eagles' No. 2 receiver played the No. 1 role and made multiple clutch grabs including a seven-yard touchdown in the second quarter to give the Eagles their first lead of the game. Outside of Britain Covey, who had six targets, Smith was the only player to see a high target share and should remain a safe WR2 with top-12 upside as long as Brown misses time. The 25-year-old will face off against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen carried the ball 11 times for 55 yards and added three catches for 13 yards in a 24-3 win over the New England Patriots in Week 3's Thursday night game. For the second straight week, Allen played a significant role running behind starter Breece Hall as he actually led the Jets in rushing yards in the dominant victory. The 20-year-old rookie has looked good through his first three games as the Jets have slowly increased his workload each week. Allen heads into Week 4 as a top handcuff in fantasy who also possesses some standalone value as a flex play.

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen had a big afternoon in his team's win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 2, finding the end zone twice in the victory. Allen will look to keep it going in Week 3's Thursday night game against the New England Patriots. The Patriots are allowing the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs through two weeks but they have given up two rushing touchdowns already. Allen's workload could fluctuate from week to week as he is still the backup behind Breece Hall but he is at least on the radar as an RB3/flex option heading into Week 3.

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen carried the ball seven times for 33 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches for 23 yards and a second touchdown in a 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. Allen, the youngest player in the NFL at just 20 years old, scored the Jets' first touchdown of the game on a 12-yard reception in the second quarter. He later came back and scored the game-winning TD on a 20-yard run in the fourth. While Allen will not overtake star runner Breece Hall in the New York backfield, he remains a top handcuff in case anything happens to Hall moving forward. Allen now has a short turnaround as the Jets play the New England Patriots in Week 3's Thursday night game.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (calf) is all set to play in Week 3 as he's been on the injury report after practicing in a limited fashion during the last two practices with a calf injury. With Reed off the injury report heading into the weekend, it's going to be tough to recommend Reed unless Jordan Love (knee) sends up starting. It seems much more likely that Malik Willis gets another start this week and if that's the case, the passing volume will be tough to come by. The Packers dropped back to pass just 17 times and only had 14 pass attempts in their 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2. Reed caught two targets for nine yards and had two rushing attempts for 37 yards, so the fantasy points floor is extremely low if the Packers keep close to the same game plan against the Titans. Reed is a low-end flex play for Week 3 based on the lack of opportunity should Willis start again.

Reed's participation level in Friday's practice could go a long way in determining whether he'll be able to play in Week 3 on the road against the Tennessee Titans. The 24-year-old's fantasy value for the week not only hinges on his health, but also on whether quarterback Jordan Love (knee) can return from an MCL sprain he suffered in the Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Love is expected to be a game-time decision on Sunday. With Malik Willis running the offense in the Week 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts, Reed caught both of his targets for nine yards and carried the ball twice for 37 yards. Fantasy managers will most likely want to keep Reed benched if he's active on Sunday and Love misses a second straight game.

Reed caught both of his targets on the day for nine yards while adding another 37 yards rushing on two carries. Dealing with a calf injury that had Reed miss some practice time in the lead-up to Week 2, Reed looked great, lessening some of the concern moving forward. While Reed was utilized creatively in the early going, he didn't do enough in terms of production to make a dent in fantasy teams on Sunday. With only 14 pass attempts and 19 dropbacks total for starting quarterback Malik Willis, there just wasn't too much to go around for the Packers' pass-catching group. The Packers will travel to Nashville to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 3, and for fantasy, Reed should be considered a low-end WR3 or FLEX play for Green Bay.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (back, calf) is officially active for Week 3 against the Chicago Bears. A late addition to the injury report, Pittman is ultimately able to suit up as the Colts continue to fight for their first win of the season. He's been somewhat underwhelming in fantasy football this year, converting 15 targets into just seven catches for 52 yards and zero touchdowns. The 26-year-old is a mid-range WR3/FLEX play this weekend.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (back, calf) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Bears. The wideout didn't practice on Friday and currently holds a questionable tag. However, all signs are pointing toward his availability for Week 3. Pittman has gotten off to a slow start this season, catching seven of his 15 targets for 52 yards in the Colts' first two contests. Without question, his ceiling is higher than most. Still, his outlook versus Chicago isn't as promising, considering the injuries could limit his abilities on the field. Although fantasy managers can keep Pittman in the starting lineup, nobody can blame anyone for playing it safe by keeping him on the bench.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, according to Kevin Bowen of 1075 The Fan. The wideout did not show any signs of an injury earlier in the week but appeared on Friday's injury report with a back injury. Pittman did not practice. This is not a good sign for the 26-year-old, as his status for Sunday's game is now in danger. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to any news regarding the USC product's status over the weekend. Pittman has had a slow start to the 2024 season, catching only seven passes across the first two weeks for a mere 52 yards. If Pittman does not suit up, fantasy managers should expect Josh Downs (who is making his 2024 debut) to see an increase in work on Sunday, as well as Alec Pierce and rookie Adonai Mitchell.

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki (calf) was limited during Friday's practice session and is questionable for Monday's game versus Washington. The 28-year-old had a touchdown called back in the Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots. However, he made amends by catching seven of his nine targets for 91 yards in the narrow loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. With many tight ends around the National Football League struggling, Gesicki has gained streaming appeal in 12-team formats. Yet, his status for Week 3 may not be revealed until Monday night, well after nearly every contest on the slate has been played. As a result, fantasy managers may want to consider an alternative for Week 3. If anything, Drew Sample and Erick All Jr. are likely available on the waiver wire. Still, both men aren't expected to do much versus the Washington Commanders, especially if Tee Higgins (hamstring) is back in the lineup after missing the Bengals' previous two contests.

The 28-year-old has emerged as a prominent pass-catcher in this offense while Tee Higgins (hamstring) remains sidelined. Even if Higgins makes his 2024 season debut on Monday, Gesicki should still be viewed as a high-end TE2, given his current role in the Cincinnati offense.
