Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) will undergo an MRI on Monday after getting hip drop tackled in Sunday night's 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears. Mixon left the game but returned to the contest after the injury. While he managed to return, Cam Akers saw more workload after Mixon suffered the injury, including a handful of rushing attempts near the goal line. Hopefully, the veteran running back won't miss significant time with the injury, especially after Dameon Pierce (hamstring) missed Sunday's matchup against the Bears, leaving Akers as the No. 2 running back. If Mixon and Pierce can't play in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, Akers is a borderline must-add off the waiver wire.

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) rushed nine times for 25 yards during Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears. He also got involved in the passing attack, hauling in three of his five targets for another 25 yards through the air. He finished Week 2 with 50 scrimmage yards but zero touchdowns. The veteran running back had a solid day, but he likely would have been even more productive if he hadn't missed most of the third quarter due to a back injury. The Texans listed him as questionable and kept him on the sideline for a couple of drives, but he did eventually return in the final minute of the third quarter. Going forward, fantasy managers will want to monitor Mixon's status in case the injury lingers and prevents him from practicing at all during the week. He heads into Week 3 versus the Vikings as a decent RB2 option in fantasy football.

Kirk was considered a safer option among the Jaguars receivers coming into the season given his experience and his familiarity with the offense. However, he has been nonexistent both in real football and in fantasy. At this point, it's hard to fathom keeping Kirk in fantasy beyond deeper leagues. With Evan Engram a surprise pre-game scratch, Kirk had the chance to step up, but instead, it was backup tight end Brenton Strange who filled the void with three catches for 65 yards. To make matters worse, the 27-year-old was fifth on the team in targets with three, behind Brian Thomas Jr., Strange, Gabe Davis, and Travis Etienne Jr. Kirk will look to get going against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, but it is hard to imagine that will happen at the moment.

It's too early to consider dropping the 27-year-old, as the Jaguars wide receiver room has no clear top option, but more underwhelming performances could leave fantasy managers with no choice. A good game against the Browns could boost Kirk back to being the top fantasy receiver on the Jaguars, but for now, he is best left out of starting lineups.

Kirk was merely a flex option/WR3 entering the season, so this Week 1 performance is concerning. Kirk still has the potential to be the top receiving option for the Jaguars, but the only way to know for sure is for the offense to have more success overall. In Week 2, Jacksonville faces the Cleveland Browns and their top secondary, making Kirk a risky flex play.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a decent day yardage-wise, but couldn't find the end zone in an 18-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He finished with 14 completions and 220 yards on 30 attempts, and 45 rushing yards on two attempts. Lawrence has just one passing touchdown through two games, which is not ideal for both real and fantasy football. The Clemson product has not looked great through two weeks, and he is not getting much fantasy production out of his weapons either. The Browns have a great defense going back to last year, especially against the pass, so it is not that surprising Lawrence had a subpar performance, but his fantasy floor needs to be higher than this to be starting caliber. The former top pick seems like a potential cut candidate for fantasy managers in Week 3, especially with his matchups remaining difficult in the coming weeks. The Jaguars face the Buffalo Bills next Monday night, a defense that should pose another challenge for the Jacksonville offense.

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Butker had a productive night against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. The Chiefs kicker nailed both field goal attempts, nailing a game-long 32-yarder, and went 3/3 on his extra point attempts. Butker only missed two field goals and did not miss a single extra point attempt last season, so he has demonstrated his ability to be one of the most accurate kickers in the league. Being on the Chiefs high-powered offense gives Butker the chance to be a difference-maker for fantasy every week. The Kansas City Chiefs should have many opportunities on offense, and Mahomes should do enough to put the team within field goal range on most drives against the Cincinnati Bengals defense. Butker is one of the most valuable kickers in football and should be a start this week.

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker will play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. This matchup will put two of the best kickers in the league against one another. Justin Tucker and Harrison Butker finished last season with 32 and 33 field goals, respectively, but Butker edged Tucker in the field goal percentage department. In 2023, Butker made 33 of his 35 field goal attempts and 38 of his 38 extra-point attempts. The Chiefs kicker will look to stay perfect in the extra-point department and build on his substantial 94.3% field goal percentage from last season. In the offseason, Kansas City offered Butker a four-year, $25.6 million extension, which included $17.75 million in guarantees. This move solidifies that the Chiefs believe in Butker as their kicker of the future. Butker is a weekly fantasy starter since the Chiefs have one of the best offenses in the NFL.

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that ideally if quarterback Jordan Love (knee) were to play in Week 3 at the Tennessee Titans, Love would practice at least a little since it will have been two weeks without doing anything on the field since injuring his knee in the Week 1 loss in Brazil to the Philadelphia Eagles. The 25-year-old is dealing with an MCL sprain in his left knee and facing an uphill battle to be ready in Week 3. A report surfaced on Sunday morning stating that Love is targeting a return in Week 5 on the road against the Los Angeles Rams, so it would be a surprise if he's back on the field this weekend. Fantasy managers need to prepare for a few more absences. Malik Willis will most likely take on his old team, the Titans, in Week 3 after leading Green Bay to a Week 2 win over the Colts by going 12-for-14 for 122 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.

Still, Spears' practice status will be worth watching later this week as they prepare to play the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. If the 23-year-old is limited at all or eventually ruled out, it would mean a bigger workload for Tony Pollard. Before getting hurt on Sunday, Spears had six carries for only 20 yards while catching two of his three targets for 11 yards against the Jets. Through two games, Spears hasn't been much more than a low-upside RB3/flex option for fantasy managers in what has been a less-than-impressive Titans offense. Julius Chestnut would become Tennessee's RB2 behind Pollard if Spears is forced to miss Week 3.

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (ankle) exited during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the New York Jets. He was observed walking to the locker room with one shoe removed. At the time of his departure, he had 20 rushing yards, 11 receiving yards, and 22 kick return yards. Tennessee has Tony Pollard atop its depth chart, so he'll continue to handle the bulk of the rushing workload regardless of whether Spears can return. Julius Chestnut would be next on the depth chart.

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears takes on the New York Jets in Week 2 action on Sunday. Spears played second-fiddle to Tony Pollard in Week 1, logging eight touches (32 yards) to Pollard's 19 (94 yards). This was quite surprising given Titans OC Nick Holz's recent comments that the backfield would be split 50/50. However, Spears should see an uptick in playing time moving forward based on head coach Brian Callahan saying that he wants the backfield to be "more even" between the two. The Jets were just absolutely torched by the 49ers backup running back Jordan Mason for 147 yards and a score in Week 1, so there should be some open running lanes for Spears to take advantage of. Especially with how strong the Jets secondary is, if Spears does see more playing time he should be able to produce enough for a viable flex option in 12+ team leagues.

Green Bay Packers rookie MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) said he suffered a sprained ankle in his NFL debut in the Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Lloyd is walking fine but called himself day-to-day. The 23-year-old has already dealt with three different injuries since training camp that have limited his on-field abilities early in his first year in the NFL. His injury doesn't sound too serious, but it also doesn't mean that Lloyd will be a lock to play in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. The third-round selection has a great opportunity to be Green Bay's No. 2 RB behind Josh Jacobs with AJ Dillon (neck) out for the year, but injuries have held him back so far. If Lloyd is limited or out this weekend, Emanuel Wilson will be Jacobs' backup again in Week 3. Lloyd saw six carries and gained 15 yards on the ground while catching one pass for a three-yard gain in his NFL debut on Sunday.

If the Packers want to keep the clock ticking and reduce the chances of a Willis turnover, we could see a lot of opportunities for Jacobs with Lloyd and Wilson each getting at least a handful of touches, too. Still, Lloyd is not an appealing redraft option and can be left on the bench in most dynasty leagues, too.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett was quiet in Week 2 against the New England Patriots. He finished with two receptions for 15 yards on only two targets. The distribution of targets in the Seahawks' receiving core has been inconsistent through two weeks. In Week 1 Lockett was the top receiver while DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba were the odd-men out. It may take another week or two to determine how the Seahawks will consistently distribute their targets. However, the dominance of Smith-Njigba and Metcalf in Week 2 may have earned them more targets moving forward.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (thigh) was removed from Friday's final injury report and will play in Week 2 against the New England Patriots. Lockett put in two limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday before being cleared for this weekend's contest. Lockett has been dealing with his thigh injury since the middle of last month and was even questionable for the Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos. The 31-year-old veteran ended up suiting up for that one and finished with six receptions on seven targets for 77 receiving yards despite playing the third-most offensive snaps among the receivers on the team. With Lockett moving further from his thigh injury, he could see more time on the field this weekend against an underrated Patriots defense that shut down the Bengals in Week 1. Jaxon Smith-Njigba's presence will make Lockett a boom/bust WR4/flex play most weeks in fantasy.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (thigh) was listed as a limited participant in yet another practice on Thursday. Lockett was also listed as limited in each of the first two practices last week before he was active in the Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos. In that victory, the 31-year-old was out-snapped by both DK Metcalf and second-year wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but he finished with a solid six catches on seven targets for a team-high 77 yards. Lockett's ceiling certainly is lowered with Smith-Njigba around, but he's not going away anytime soon, and he should play in Week 2 versus the New England Patriots. The healthier Lockett gets, too, the more snaps he'll likely see in Seattle's offense. Sure, Lockett was much more attractive in fantasy when it was just he and Metcalf soaking up targets, but he remains in play as a big-play, WR4/flex option in fantasy lineups.
