Purdy completed 25 of 34 passes for 205 yards with three touchdowns and one interception while adding five rushes for 29 yards during the 49ers' 27-7 Week 1 win over the Rams in Melbourne, Australia.

After an offseason in which the Rams' fearsome pass rush garnered plenty of headlines, Purdy navigated the season-opening matchup against his talented NFC West rival in nearly flawless fashion. The fifth-year signal-caller got off to a fast start with new No. 1 receiver Mike Evans, connecting with him on three occasions for 22 yards during a 15-play opening drive that culminated in a field goal. Purdy went on to hit Evans for a contested two-yard scoring strike early in the third quarter, and he sandwiched impressive touchdown tosses to Demarcus Robinson and Deebo Samuel of 39 and 15 yards, respectively, around that play. Purdy's early second-quarter interception on a pass intended for George Kittle did lead to the Rams' only touchdown, but as the final numbers indicate, the veteran quarterback did more than enough to atone. Purdy should have a strong chance of carrying over the season-opening momentum into Week 2, as a home date with what's expected to be a vulnerable Dolphins defense awaits on Sunday, Sept. 20.

Purdy sat out Thursday's exhibition win over the Raiders.

San Francisco elected to rest its projected regular-season starters for the team's final exhibition game. Purdy saw very limited work during the preseason slate, getting into one game and completing four of six passes for 29 yards. He'll next take the field against the Rams in Week 1 of the regular season in Melbourne, Australia, on Friday, Sept. 11 (which will be Thursday, Sept. 10 in US time zones). Purdy will be working with a largely new wideout corps, including Mike Evans (groin), Deebo Samuel (returning after a one-year hiatus with Washington), rookie De'Zhaun Stribling (shoulder) and Christian Kirk (calf).

Hall (groin) could handle a full workload in Sunday's season opener against the Titans, as Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich said Thursday that "unless [head coach Aaron Glenn] and the training staff give us a rep count, we just go play ball," Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Hall initially received a recovery timetable of 2-to-3 weeks after sustaining a groin strain Aug. 17. Just over three weeks has passed since that date, and Hall practiced without limitations Wednesday, suggesting he has made a full recovery. Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, the latter of whom has been cleared to return from a knee injury sustained during training camp, could factor into the game plan as change-of-pace options, but Hall is expected to lead the Jets backfield and handle his normal workload against the Titans in Week 1.

The star running back was a full-go to begin the practice week as Sunday's season opener looms. Hall suffered a groin injury late in camp but has been making good progress to the point that it's been expected that he will be ready for Week 1. Look for Hall to lead the Jets' backfield to begin the campaign.

The Jets won't release their first injury report of the season until Wednesday, but Hall's activity at Tuesday's session offers hope that he might be listed as a full participant. Though Hall had been limited at practice over the past three weeks while nursing a minor right groin strain, the expectation is that he'll be ready to handle a lead role in the backfield during Sunday's season opener versus the Titans.

Smith-Njigba brought in eight of 11 targets for 122 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' 13-10 win over the Patriots on Wednesday.

The reigning Offensive Player of the Year endured a relatively difficult first half after making a 13-yard catch on the second play from scrimmage, losing starting quarterback Sam Darnold to a hip injury after the first drive of the game and experiencing some trouble separating from Patriots star cornerback Christian Gonzalez. However, JSN picked up the pace significantly as No. 2 signal-caller Drew Lock got into a rhythm, recording key third-down catches on consecutive second-quarter possessions and then delivering a dynamic 45-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the fourth quarter following Drake Maye's first interception. Smith-Njigba also subsequently managed a timely 11-yard grab on the drive that culminated with Jason Myers' go-ahead field goal that served as the final points for either side, and the star receiver ultimately delivered game-high totals in receptions, receiving yards and targets. Any extended absence on Darnold's part would stand to affect Smith-Njigba's week-to-week upside, but the standout receiver's chemistry with Lock as Wednesday's game unfolded was encouraging.

Smith-Njigba said Tuesday in his appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter that rookie running back Jadarian Price had "a great training camp" and will help relieve pressure on the passing game in 2026.

After letting Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker walk in free agency, the Seahawks will be counting on Price -- the No. 32 overall pick in April's draft -- as well as George Holani and Emanuel Wilson (hamstring) to lead the backfield while Zach Charbonnet (knee) is out for at least the first four games of the season. Walker's tough running combined with Charbonnet's skills on passing downs helped ensure that defenses couldn't devote more resources to shutting down Smith-Njigba, who blossomed into arguably the NFL's top wideout in 2025. After taking most of his snaps out of the slot in his first two seasons, Smith-Njigba thrived while transitioning into more of a perimeter role, compiling a massive 119-1,793-10 receiving line over 17 regular-season games on his way to winning Offensive Player of the Year honors. A league-high 32.6 percent target share played a part in Smith-Njigba achieving his lofty production, but even if supporting pass catchers such as Rashid Shaheed and AJ Barner are more involved in 2026, Smith-Njigba could avoid a major dip in production if the Seahawks lean more heavily on the passing game as a whole. The Seahawks ranked third in the NFL with a 49.7 percent run rate in 2025, and despite Smith-Njigba's early praise for Price, it would still be surprising if the rookie was trusted right away to handle the sort of workloads that Walker and Charbonnet previously shouldered.

Milroe (coach's decision) will be the emergency third quarterback for the Wednesday night matchup with the Patriots.

Milroe completed 16 of 26 pass attempts for 223 yards and one touchdown without any interceptions in Friday's 9-9 preseason tie versus Kansas City.

Allen is listed second on the Jets' unofficial depth chart behind Breece Hall.
