Near the end of the game, it looked like Jones would be able to lead his team to their first victory of the season, but a drop by Malik Nabers prevented the Giants from taking the lead. Looking ahead, he will not be a starting QB option for Week 3 vs the Browns.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones faces an intriguing Week 2 matchup against the Washington Commanders. While Jones struggled in Week 1, scoring just 5.3 fantasy points against the Minnesota Vikings, the Commanders' secondary allowed 289 passing yards in their opener. If New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones can't get right and improve on his dreadful Week 1 performance against the Minnesota Vikings in a Week 2 divisional matchup against the Washington Commanders, ESPN's Dan Graziano thinks he's in real trouble. Anything short of improvement will place Jones' contractual future squarely into the spotlight. The four-year, $160 million contract that Jones signed before last season only included two years of fully guaranteed money. So if the Giants released him after this season, they'd have $22.21 million in dead money against their salary cap, although they wouldn't have to pay him the $78 million in salary and bonuses he's currently scheduled to earn over the 2025 and 2026 seasons. The bottom line is Jones has looked bad since the 2022 season, and the more he continues to struggle, the more people will be clamoring for backup Drew Lock.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton will take over for Bryce Young in the team's Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders but should not be a fantasy option in fantasy leagues. With some decent offensive weapons in Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen, and Xavier Legette, Dalton could provide a useful upgrade from Young in NFL terms but it's best for fantasy managers to take a wait-and-see approach with how Dalton looks in this offense. The Panthers have looked like a disaster to start the season and despite benching Young, it's not clear if he was the problem or it was the offense in general. There are better options out there in the quarterback landscape and you would have to be in a desperate situation to consider starting the "Red Rifle".

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner took 21 carries for 122 rushing yards and a touchdown in the team's 41-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. He also caught his lone target of the game for a gain of two yards. Conner did lose the ball on the Rams' five-yard line in the fourth quarter, but tight end Trey McBride fell on top of it as it bounced ahead into the end zone to give the Cardinals their fifth touchdown of the game. The eighth-year veteran was as elusive as ever, forcing six missed tackles in the game. Thanks to the lopsided score, Conner ceded backfield duties to Trey Benson and Emari Demercado after his fumble but there is no question he is the top dog in Arizona's running backs room. In Week 3, Conner will be in the RB1 conversation again when the Cardinals take on the Detroit Lions.

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner put up 83 yards from scrimmage and found the end zone in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. He will look to do more of the same on Sunday in the Cardinals' home opener against the Los Angeles Rams. Fears that he might lose work to rookie Trey Benson were assuaged last week as Conner handled 16 of Arizona's 20 handoffs and was on the field for 67% of offensive snaps compared to Benson's 13% share. The Rams had one of the toughest run defenses in the league in 2023 but no longer have Aaron Donald anchoring their line. In Week 1, they gave up 131 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to the Lions. Conner should be locked into fantasy lineups this week and can be expected to put up another RB1 performance.

Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing described running back James Conner as the team's "bell cow" in recent comments to the media. Anyone left wondering how much Petzing's coachspeak could be trusted got their answer on Sunday. Conner handled the ball in each of the Cardinals' first six plays from scrimmage to open the game and paced the team's running backs with 16 rushing attempts. The eighth-year veteran gained 50 rushing yards and caught three passes for another 33 yards through the air. Conner scored his first touchdown of the season in the second quarter, taking the handoff from three yards out and punching it through the line for the score. Conner and the Cardinals next face the Rams, who allowed a combined 131 rushing yards and two touchdowns to David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs of the Lions in Week 1.

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery had 11 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Iowa State product also caught all four of his targets for 35 yards through the air. Even with Montgomery's production being poor and Jahmyr Gibbs getting more looks, the former third-round pick got the lone touchdown of the Detroit backfield. With this being what fantasy managers drafted him for, they should have nothing to worry about after a good week from Montgomery. He also had more receptions Sunday than in any game during the 2023 season. Montgomery will look to build on Sunday's performance and is a mid-range RB2 against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery will look to continue his strong performance in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who boast a tough run defense. In Week 1, Montgomery impressed with 91 rushing yards on 17 attempts, averaging 5.4 yards per carry, and scored the game-winning touchdown. He again led in touches over Jahmyr Gibbs, with a 20-15 split, though Gibbs scored earlier in the game on a rare goal-line carry. The Buccaneers' defense is anchored by elite run-stopper Vita Vea, and only seven running backs surpassed 60 rushing yards against Tampa Bay last season, with three needing at least 20 carries to do so. Given the strength of the Buccaneers' run defense, the Lions will likely implement a pass-heavy game plan targeting Tampa Bay's banged-up secondary. While it's promising that quarterback Jayden Daniels and running back Brian Robinson found success on the ground against the Buccaneers last week, Montgomery may find it challenging to replicate such a performance. As a running back who isn't heavily involved in the passing game, Montgomery should be considered a low-end RB2 or Flex option. Start him with caution and manage expectations, given the difficult matchup.

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery will square off against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday evening in the team's home opener. The Lions' offense will be at full strength heading into a matchup with the highest projected point total of the weekend (52.5). Detroit has an implied team total of 28 points, and Montgomery has a fantastic chance to get in on the action. Despite running mate Jahmyr Gibbs returning to health leading up to Week 1, it is fair to expect that his workload might be monitored. This would leave the lion's share of backfield touches in the sixth-year back's hands for at least one more week. It is believed by some in the fantasy community that Gibbs may supersede the veteran in the pecking order this season. Whether that is the case or not -- only time will tell. Regardless, both Detroit RBs are excellent plays this week and season-long. Additionally, they both hold baked-in upside if either one were to miss any time. Montgomery is RotoBaller's RB22 in this week's rankings.

Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard has looked fairly decent to start the season but the Panthers' offense has been in negative game scripts for the first two weeks. Could a switch from Bryce Young to Andy Dalton be the solution in Week 3 against the Raiders? It could but Las Vegas should be playing from ahead in this one, limiting the rushing potential of Hubbard. The running back has 16 carries in two games so far but he was more involved in the passing game in Week 2 against the Chargers with four catches for 12 yards on five targets, which is a good sign. Hubbard is a risky play until the Panthers' offense shows signs of improvement from its disastrous start to the season.

Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard carried the ball 10 times for 64 yards in the team's 26-3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Hubbard also caught four of his five targets for an additional 12 yards through the air. Hubbard was the lone bright spot in Carolina's offense on Sunday, putting together a solid fantasy outing despite the negative game script in another lopsided loss. He also out carried running back Miles Sanders 10 to seven, confirming that he will continue to see most of the work between the two moving forward. While practically every member of the Panthers offense can be benched in lineups moving forward, Hubbard looks to be the exception. Fantasy managers can include him as an RB2/3 option in Week 3 when the Panthers face the Las Vegas Raiders.

Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard was a bust in Week 1, running the ball six times for just 14 yards in the team's blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints. He now gears up for a Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, a team that did a decent job of defending the run in Week 1 when they played the Raiders. The Panthers also enter Sunday's contest as underdogs, indicating there might not be a favorable game script for Hubbard and the Panthers run game. On top of that, Hubbard saw a significant split in touches with RB Miles Sanders, as Sanders ran the ball five times in last week's matchup. While Sunday's matchup will likely not be as big of a one-sided affair as last week, it's hard to start Hubbard with a ton of confidence as we have yet to see the Panthers get it going on the ground. That being said, fantasy managers in deeper leagues can look to him as an RB3 option in the hopes that he finds the endzone in Week 2.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain against the Cardinals in Week 2, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. According to the report, Kupp will spend the next week or so in a cast to help ease the swelling. The Rams did not place Kupp on IR and there is still optimism he can return within the four-week timetable. It's not the worst news for Kupp managers but high ankle sprains can be tricky to come back from. The fact that he is not on IR is a somewhat promising sign. Kupp was off to a flying start to the season with 21 targets in his first game in a dominant 14 catch, 110-yard, 1-TD performance against the Lions. When healthy, Kupp is still a dominant fantasy player but the injuries have become a concern.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (ankle) is not expected to go on injured reserve after sustaining an ankle injury during the Week 2 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Kupp injured his ankle when a defender landed on him during a tackle late in the second quarter, forcing him to hobble off the field. He was later seen leaving the stadium in a walking boot. While this is positive news, as earlier rumors suggested Kupp could miss extended time, his status for Sunday's game against the 49ers remains doubtful. With Puka Nacua and Kupp likely to be sidelined, Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson emerge as quarterback Matthew Stafford's top targets for Week 3 against San Francisco.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (ankle) is expected to miss an extended period of time, according to head coach Sean McVay. The star wide receiver is also a candidate to land on injured reserve, knocking him out for at least four games. With Puka Nacua (knee) already on injured reserve, the Rams have Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson, Tutu Atwell, and sixth-round rookie Jordan Whittington healthy at the wide receiver position. Unfortunately, Los Angeles has several players on injured reserve or likely heading there, making fans feel like it's the 2022 season all over again. Matthew Stafford's fantasy value takes a massive hit with his top two playmakers out of the lineup. Fantasy players likely want to avoid starting any Rams player not named Kyren Williams for the foreseeable future.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London delivered a standout performance in the team's narrow victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. London finished the game with 54 yards on six receptions, including the crucial game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Before the Falcons' decisive drive, London had managed only four catches for 42 yards. With the Eagles adding a 28-yard field goal to take a six-point lead, the Falcons faced a critical situation with just 1:39 left on the clock. Atlanta orchestrated a drive from their own 30-yard line to the Eagles' end zone, thanks to quarterback Kirk Cousins completing 4-of-5 passes. London contributed with a five-yard reception to set up a first-and-goal at the seven-yard line, and he secured the game-tying touchdown with a 7-yard catch from Cousins. Although London and Cousins are still building their chemistry, Monday's performance marked a significant improvement from Week 1. London is expected to see ample opportunities in the upcoming Week 3 matchup against the Chiefs, where the Falcons will likely need to stay aggressive in the passing game to keep up with Patrick Mahomes.

Still, London could only muster up three targets against a defense more known to be vulnerable through the air than the ground attack. Ray-Ray McCloud III ended up being the Falcons' No. 1 receiver in Week 1, but don't expect that trend to continue. The former USC Trojan is the No. 1 receiver for this team, and you can expect him to receive more than three targets in a game so that the Falcons could be down early and often. The Eagles allowed 260 passing yards and two receiving touchdowns, along with multiple big plays from the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, making London a prime candidate to have a solid bounce-back game in Week 2

Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen (heel) will not take part in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. Before sitting out the team's Week 2 loss on Sunday night to the Houston Texans, Allen missed all three of the team's practices last week. In addition to his injury, he disappointed in his Bears debut in the Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans, catching four passes on 11 targets for just 29 yards. The 32-year-old veteran still has a couple more days to get back on the practice field, but as of right now, things aren't looking great for his status in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts. If he misses another game this weekend, look for DeAndre Carter to once again have an elevated role as the No. 3 wideout behind DJ Moore and rookie Rome Odunze. Carter caught three of his four targets on Sunday night for 32 yards.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen (heel) won't play on Sunday night against the Texans. He was initially classified as a game-time call for Week 2. Yet, NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that the former Charger was trending more toward doubtful as of Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, Rome Odunze (knee) is active, so Caleb Williams may look in his direction more than in Week 1. However, Cole Kmet and DJ Moore should remain the preferred options for the signal-caller.

New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas has been a massive disappointment this fantasy football season and should be avoided in fantasy leagues until further notice. That includes this week when the Patriots play the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. Douglas has just two catches this year, and he was out-snapped by both K.J. Osborn and Ja'Lynn Polk last Sunday. With his role apparently shrinking and passing volume coming at a premium in this Patriots offense, Douglas is avoidable in just about every fantasy league. He belongs on the bench or even on waivers for Week 3 against the Jets.

New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas did not command a target during the team's 23-20 overtime loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. It has been an underwhelming start to the season for the second-year receiver, who now has just two catches through two games. Many fantasy managers spent a late-round pick on Douglas thinking that he could be a reliable option in the short passing game, but so far, he has been the opposite of reliable. He can be dropped in most redraft leagues as the Patriots employ a run-heavy approach and Brissett throws to the receivers not named Douglas.

New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas should be avoided in most fantasy leagues ahead of the team's home opener against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. Douglas has been one of the Patriots' most reliable pass-catchers since the middle of the 2023 season, but his volume has taken a hit with New England relying on its rushing attack and defense to keep them competitive. Jacoby Brissett isn't being asked to throw a lot, which means Douglas and his fellow receivers should continue to prepare for minimal value. In last week's season opener, for example, he registered just 12 yards on a pair of receptions. Until we see any sort of higher-level production out of Douglas, he can be left on fantasy waivers.

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews received the second-most targets in the team's three-point loss at home to the Las Vegas Raiders. While he received more work this time compared to Isaiah Likely, he was unable to turn it into that much. He finished with four receptions for 51 yards on five targets but couldn't find the end zone. The fact that Andrews was more involved in this game was encouraging, but the passing game has been lackluster so far outside of one pass-catcher per game. He'll need to be a big part of the offense if the Ravens want to find their first win on the road against a capable Dallas Cowboys defense in Week 3.

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews received a minuscule two targets in the team's first contest to the surprise of fantasy managers everywhere. He played more of a blocking role than a receiving role as the offensive line was in desperate need of help with Chris Jones in the backfield seemingly all the time. The Chiefs also game-planned to take Andrews out of the passing game, so it was an uphill battle all night long. Andrews will likely go up against Robert Spillane whose coverage grade isn't one of the highest for linebackers. Isaiah Likely may have proven to be a formidable tight end as well, but Andrews still has the chemistry with Lamar Jackson and ran 38 routes out of his 59 snaps in Week 1. He'll continue to run plenty of routes and should see a return to the mean target-wise. Fantasy managers can look to Andrews as a low-end TE1 in Week 2.

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews turned in a very quiet game during the 20-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday. The veteran only received two targets and he caught both of them for 14 yards. The hot hand at tight end in this game went to Isaiah Likely who received 12 targets compared to Andrews' two. A silver lining for fantasy managers is that Andrews still played more snaps and ran more routes than Likely in this game, so his opportunities will likely remain high as the season progresses. According to PFF, he played 59 snaps and ran 38 routes compared to Likely's 53 snaps and 35 routes. Andrews might not be the target sponge he once was, but that remains to be seen while the Ravens take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2 looking for a bounce-back win.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will kickoff against the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday. The former third-round pick began his sophomore season last week with a career day, hitting six of six field goal attempts from 46, 51, 31, 53, 23, and 42 yards away. He also hit both of his extra-point attempts. Minnesota's defense is probably nothing special -- regardless of their domination of Daniel Jones and the New York Giants last week -- so Moody should be able to ride the coattails of San Francisco's explosive offensive attack as usual. It might actually be a good thing for Moody that touchdown hog Christian McCaffrey is sidelined (Achilles). If Moody has improved his accuracy issues from last year and the 49ers continue to put him in positions of field goal volume, the talented Moody will be a top fantasy option for the foreseeable future. He's a top-3 play in Week 2.

The second-year kicker was perfect on the night, going six-for-six with field goals from 46, 51, 31, 53, 23, and 42 yards in the game. He also converted both of his extra point attempts, contributing 20 of the 49ers' 32 points. Moody's impressive showing highlights his potential as a strong fantasy option, especially with the 49ers' high-powered offense ensuring plenty of scoring opportunities.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will open his sophomore season with a Monday night home game versus the New York Jets. Moody finished his rookie season in 2023 tied with Atlanta's Younghoe Koo as the K17 in fantasy points per game. Moody and Koo took very different routes to those numbers, though. Moody only attempted 25 field goals to Koo's 37. The difference was made up in extra points, as Moody led the league in the category and set a record with 53 straight. Lack of opportunity aside, Moody does have room for improvement in his accuracy; he recorded an 84% last year, which was near the bottom of the league. The Jets defense is expected to be stout but if their defense is anything like last year's, the 49ers should be able to move the ball on the ground at least. The weather in Santa Clara on Monday night is expected to be near-perfect. Moody is a back-end fantasy starter in Week 1.
