As he continues to build rapport with his top target CeeDee Lamb, his numbers should be better than Week 1. He will be without tight end Jake Ferguson but has plenty of other targets to spread the ball to. There is not much to take away from the Saints' defensive showing in Week 1 as the Panthers' offense was woeful. Start Prescott with confidence.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. scored the team's lone touchdown in an 18-13 defeat to the Cleveland Browns. He finished with 13 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown, and added three catches for six yards. Etienne Jr. put up a solid fantasy performance, but given the offensive struggles of the Jaguars, his upside has been limited through two weeks. Fantasy managers drafted the Clemson product near the top of drafts, so a touchdown-dependent RB2 is not what they hoped for. Etienne Jr. was expected to be one of the few high-volume backs in the NFL this season, but he only has 29 touches through two games. For comparison, San Francisco 49ers backup running back turned starter Jordan Mason had 29 touches just in Week 1. The Jaguars take on the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, who struggled to contain Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane this past Thursday.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. is still a great starting option for fantasy managers in Week 2 despite a mediocre Week 1 performance against the Miami Dolphins. He had 44 rushing yards on 12 carries, a rushing touchdown, two receptions for 15 yards, and a costly fourth-quarter fumble. The Jaguars face the Cleveland Browns this week, a defense better against the pass than the run. The offense struggled in Week 1, especially in the second half, meaning establishing the run early could be the strategy to try and get back on track. Tank Bigsby, who surprisingly led the team in rushing against the Dolphins (12 carries for 73 yards), could be a part of that strategy. However, Etienne Jr. still led the team in touches, and losing his starting job would be a massive overreaction to one game. Etienne Jr. managers will be disappointed that a guy they drafted as an RB1 is already viewed as an RB2, but the upside for RB1 status remains.

He also fumbled out of the back of the endzone for a touchback. The Jaguars offense disappointed overall, scoring all 17 points in the first half. Backup running back Tank Bigsby was one of the few bright spots, putting up 73 yards on 12 carries of his own. However, it was Etienne Jr. who scored the lone rushing touchdown from one yard out in the first quarter, salvaging his fantasy output. His fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned going forward, as the Jaguars offense won't struggle as badly as they did in the second half for the entire season. The third-year pro should maintain RB1 expectations next week against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2, a defense that allowed 40 yards and a touchdown to Ezekiel Elliot on 10 carries in Week 1.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb scored his first touchdown of the season with an electrifying 65-yard reception in Sunday's 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints. After signing a lucrative contract extension, the All-Pro was out to prove his worth, finishing the game with four receptions for 90 yards and a score. Lamb remained the focal point of the Cowboys' offense, seeing seven targets, the second-most on the team behind Jalen Tolbert's nine. He'll have a tough matchup against the Ravens in Week 3, but remains a must-start in all leagues.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb turned in a solid day at the office in Week 1 at Cleveland but more should be expected of the talented wideout in Week 2 at home against New Orleans. It was a decent day for Lamb who has created a high bar after setting the fantasy world aflame last season. For those just looking at the stat line, the Cowboys didn't take to the air much in the second half of Week 1. Expect more from Lamb in a home game against the Saints. The fact that he was involved with some rushes is also a good sign as he has the skill set to take an end-around to the house. Lamb should move around the formation and be involved early and often in Week 2 in what figures to be a more competitive game. Not that fantasy managers need reassurance to start a player likely drafted with a top 3 pick but Lamb should be fired up with a great deal of confidence.

Lamb missed the entire preseason while holding out for a contract extension, and at points it was unclear if he'd even play in Week 1. He did, of course, and saw 10 targets, making five catches for 61 yards. Lamb was the top overall fantasy pass catcher last season and has a good chance to do it again this season. He'll only heat up more and once he gets more up to speed he should distance himself from the rest of the Cowboys pass catchers. He'll be a weekly WR1 regardless of matchups.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) suffered a calf strain in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and will be forced to miss a couple of weeks. It comes as a surprise after Samuel had eight catches (10 targets) for 110 receiving yards while also carrying the ball twice for 10 yards. With both Samuel and All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles, calf) out for the foreseeable future, San Fran's offense could struggle to put up points heading into a Week 3 divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Jauan Jennings should step into the WR2 role behind Brandon Aiyuk, who has been slow out of the gates after a lengthy contract hold-in, while tight end George Kittle's fantasy ceiling and floor will now be raised. Samuel's injury makes running back Jordan Mason even more of a lock as a must-start in fantasy lineups going forward.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. was impressive in a 23-17 loss to the Vikings in Minneapolis on Sunday. He caught eight of 10 targets for 110 yards receiving -- all team-high figures. Samuel Sr.'s hands were particularly sticky in this one, with multiple difficult receptions coming on contested passes. In a bit of a departure from his usual style, relatively few of his yards came after the catch. Although it didn't matter in the end, Samuel Sr. made a great hustle play in the 49ers' final possession near the goal line when linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel jumped a backward wide receiver screen pass intended for Samuel Sr., who got back to secure the ball when Van Ginkel bobbled it. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, it counted as a carry for a loss of nine yards. He would finish with two carries for minus-10 yards. Samuel Sr. will look to keep it going in a road tilt against the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. is in Minnesota as the team prepares for a Week 2 matchup versus the Vikings. The former South Carolina Gamecock fulfilled expectations and then some in Week 1 against the New York Jets. He finished the game with five receptions on nine targets for 54 yards through the air to go with eight carries for 23 yards and a touchdown on the ground. It's reasonable to expect similar usage in the running game, given running back Christian McCaffrey's continued absence and San Francisco's success with their approach last week. The similarities may stop with the passing game though, as 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk was playing in his first game action after sitting out the preseason, so the window for Samuel Sr. to take target advantage of Aiyuk's lack of football readiness may be closing. Minnesota's pass defense tamped down the fantasy performances of all New York Giants involved last week, but it's also possible New York's offense is just inept against everybody. Last year's Vikings defense was sixth-worst in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers in half-PPR. Samuel Sr. is a locked-and-loaded WR1 in Week 2.

X-rays came back negative on Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert's lower right leg on Monday, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. Herbert had his leg rolled up on in the third quarter of the Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, but he quickly returned to the contest and finished out the day under center. The 26-year-old signal-caller isn't dealing with any structural damage but should be considered day-to-day, nonetheless, heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If by chance the Chargers don't clear Herbert to play this weekend, either Easton Stick or Taylor Heinicke would take over as the starting QB. Herbert has been held under 150 yards passing in both of the first two games of the year in LA's new offense, throwing for three touchdowns and one interception. If he plays in Week 3, he'll remain a low-end QB2 against a tough Steelers defense.

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) exited Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers. He played relatively well in Week 2, finishing with 130 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception off 14-for-20 passing, adding six carries for 18 yards. Unfortunately, Herbert sustained an ankle injury, with the signal-caller stating he got "rolled up" during the contest. He was observed limping after the game. Herbert also underwent an X-ray to determine the severity of the injury. However, until the results are released in the next day or two, fantasy managers should prepare heading into the Week 3 outing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he doesn't suit up for that one, Easton Stick is the favorite to take over under center.

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert threw two touchdowns in a Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers. Herbert attempted 20 passes, completing 14 of them for 130 yards. He threw one interception and the two touchdowns, also adding 18 yards on the ground on six carries. Herbert's 20 pass attempts paled in comparison to the 44 rushing attempts by the Chargers offense. This could be the usual pattern for the Bolts this season, as the running game and the defense will be the focus. This will limit Herbert's fantasy production, even if his talent on the field remains close to the top tier of NFL passers.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson scored the team's first points of the 2024 season last week against the Bills. Unfortunately, the second-year receiver's five-yard touchdown catch was his only reception of the game and he finished with just one other target. Fellow wide receiver Greg Dortch and tight end Trey McBride were Kyler Murray's favorite targets last week and he is likely to go back to the well again in Week 2. Marvin Harrison Jr. disappointed fantasy managers with a one-catch game of his own in the season opener but offensive coordinator Drew Petzing has said that he intends to get the rookie more involved. In other words, Wilson is not a priority target in the Cardinals' pass game and won't be a reliable source of fantasy points in Week 2. Keep him on the bench in all but the deepest of leagues.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson scored the team's first points of 2024 when he caught a five-yard pass from Kyler Murray in the first quarter of Sunday's season opener against the Buffalo Bills. Wilson showed good awareness on the play as he took it upon himself to find some open space in the back of the end zone while Murray did his best to stay on his feet despite a heavy pass rush on the play. The touchdown reception ended up being Wilson's only reception of the day and he drew just one other target in the loss. Wilson did start opposite Marvin Harrison Jr. and had the second-highest snap count among Arizona's wide receiver group. Next week the Cardinals host the Rams, who just gave up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown to the Lions' WR2, Jameson Williams.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk put up yet another dud in an 18-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He finished with just one catch for negative one yard, giving him two catches and 29 yards through two games. Kirk was considered a safer option among the Jaguars receivers coming into the season given his experience and his familiarity with the offense. However, he has been nonexistent both in real football and in fantasy. At this point, it's hard to fathom keeping Kirk in fantasy beyond deeper leagues. With Evan Engram a surprise pre-game scratch, Kirk had the chance to step up, but instead, it was backup tight end Brenton Strange who filled the void with three catches for 65 yards. To make matters worse, the 27-year-old was fifth on the team in targets with three, behind Brian Thomas Jr., Strange, Gabe Davis, and Travis Etienne Jr. Kirk will look to get going against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, but it is hard to imagine that will happen at the moment.

Kirk struggled in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, as did the entire offense, producing just one catch for 30 yards. A dud like that will make it hard for fantasy managers to feel good inserting the Jaguars receiver into lineups, even as a flex. Kirk did tie for the team lead in targets with four, but needs to show more efficiency with his opportunities to be considered a reliable fantasy asset. It's too early to consider dropping the 27-year-old, as the Jaguars wide receiver room has no clear top option, but more underwhelming performances could leave fantasy managers with no choice. A good game against the Browns could boost Kirk back to being the top fantasy receiver on the Jaguars, but for now, he is best left out of starting lineups.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk finished with just one catch for 30 yards in a 17-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Kirk was expected, along with Evan Engram (one catch for five yards), to be the offensive skilled players with the best chemistry with Trevor Lawrence to start the season, but that was not the case. Kirk tied for the team lead in targets with Engram and Brian Thomas Jr. with four each. However, the rookie wideout caught all his targets and showed great chemistry with Lawrence. Free agent acquisition Gabe Davis also showed good chemistry with Lawrence, catching all three of his targets for 62 yards to lead the team in receiving. Kirk was merely a flex option/WR3 entering the season, so this Week 1 performance is concerning. Kirk still has the potential to be the top receiving option for the Jaguars, but the only way to know for sure is for the offense to have more success overall. In Week 2, Jacksonville faces the Cleveland Browns and their top secondary, making Kirk a risky flex play.

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan on Monday that tight end Jake Ferguson (knee) was "real close" to playing in the Week 2 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints. "The expectation is for him to be back" in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens. Ferguson suffered an MCL sprain and a bone bruise in his left knee in the Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns but was not cleared to play against the Saints. The 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into this week, and we should have a better idea of his availability for this weekend when the Cowboys start practicing later this week. Luke Schoonmaker caught all six of his targets for 43 yards in the 44-19 drubbing by the Saints, but he's probably not worth much attention on the waiver wire with Ferguson having a shot to return soon. When healthy, Ferguson is on the TE1 radar in fantasy.

CeeDee Lamb is the only Dallas pass-catcher to start with confidence in Week 2, although Brandin Cooks is an intriguing FLEX play in deeper formats.

However, seeing him listed as doubtful does not bode well for his chance of suiting up. Fantasy managers should expect Luke Schoonmaker to serve as the lead tight end for Dallas on Sunday. Schoonmaker caught just eight passes in his rookie season last year. However, two of them were in the end zone.
