Cook is out for a fourth straight practice, after making it clear over the weekend that he was sitting out (or "holding in") for "business" reasons. Bills coach Sean McDermott said Thursday morning that he expected Cook to practice, but the running back wasn't with his teammates when they went out on the field for the start of the session. Ray Davis and Ty Johnson will continue taking most of the first-team snaps in Cook's absence.

The hold-in extends to a third straight practice, with Cook showing up to the team facility but refraining from on-field activities for what he's called "business" reasons. He's entering the final year of his rookie contract and seeking an extension after finishing the 2024 regular season with 18 touchdowns in 16 games. Cook took part in June minicamp and the first week-plus of training camp, seemingly without limitations.

Cook is present for Monday's practice but not in uniform as he seeks a new contract, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.

He reported for June minicamp and the start of training camp before switching things up Sunday and seemingly moving to a "hold in" approach -- whereby he shows up to practice and meetings but doesn't do on-field work. When reporters asked him Sunday why he wasn't practicing, Cook simply said "business," a one-word answer that was also his response to the beat writers' other questions. In any case, his absence from practice frees up more first-team reps for Ray Davis and Ty Johnson.

Otton (hamstring) is not practicing Tuesday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Otton has been sidelined for just over one week due to what head coach Todd Bowles indicated is a mild hamstring strain, so it's likely the Buccaneers are simply being cautious with the the fourth-year pro. The starting tight end could continue to sit out practices leading up to Tampa Bay's preseason opener against Tennessee on Aug. 9, but at this stage there still appear to be no concerns about his availability for Week 1. In the meantime, Payne Durham, Ko Kieft and Year 2 breakout candidate Devin Culp will benefit from increased chances for first-team reps.

The tight end may continue to miss practices, but it doesn't sound like there's concern about his Week 1 availability. He likely has an unreported injury, though not necessarily a significant one. Including playoffs, Otton has played 51 of a possible 55 games since the Buccaneers made him a fourth-round pick in 2022. He's mostly put up mediocre receiving numbers on huge snap counts, except for Weeks 7-9 of last season when he put up a 25-258-3 line over a three-game stretch while Chris Godwin (ankle) and Mike Evans were injured. Otton led all TEs in snap share (in active games) each of the past two seasons, logging 96.3 percent in 2023 and 91.9 percent in 2024.

Harvey is listed fifth on Denver's initial preseason depth chart even though he's been repping as the No. 2 RB in practice, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Multiple Denver beat writers have noted that coach Sean Payton almost always puts rookies at the bottom of the depth chart. Reports out of practice tell a different story than what's printed, with J.K. Dobbins atop the rotation and Harvey typically the second man up. The real question is how work will be split between the two come Week 1, although there is some chance Jaleel McLaughlin or one of the other depth backs poaches a few touches here and there. While Harvey is the clear choice in terms of explosiveness at this point in their respective careers, Dobbins has experience as an NFL starter and a solid reputation for pass blocking. That's seemingly enough to make Dobbins a favorite for the Week 1 start, even if Harvey remains the more attractive fantasy asset for the season-long haul.

Harvey has drawn praise early in camp, impressing Denver's coaching staff with his explosiveness and speed, according to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic.

With padded practices underway, Harvey has turned heads with his ability to maintain speed while making quick cuts to avoid defenders. After Tuesday's practice, head coach Sean Payton highlighted a play the rookie running back made during the session, saying Harvey "had a run today that was something, and we kind of turned and looked at each other." The UCF product demonstrated great decision-making on his way to multiple big gains. Harvey has even showed a willingness to step up into oncoming pressure in protection, though Payton noted that this will be an area of his game that needs growth. "For him, specifically, the protections, the speed of the game...there's that learning curve for all young players. Some of it happens a little quicker than others, but he's doing exceptional," Payton said. According to Kosmider, the 24-year-old Harvey and veteran J.K. Dobbins have routinely taken the bulk of snaps with the Broncos' first-team offense. Though the presence of Dobbins likely caps Harvey's potential as a true workhorse back, his continued development could lead to a bigger share of the backfield workload based on Denver's need for explosiveness in the ground game.
