Michael Penix: Could lose job to Tua?
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 5:03 PM
Penix (knee) won't necessarily be Atlanta's starting quarterback once he's healthy, as new addition Tua Tagovailoa will get a real chance to earn the role, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
It looks like a good situation for Tagovailoa to rehab his value while Penix rehabs from the third ACL tear of his football career. Both are left-handed, theoretically making things easier for new head coach Kevin Stefanski, after his predecessors in Atlanta went back-and-forth between Penix and the right-handed Kirk Cousins for two years. That was hardly the only issue with Atlanta's passing game, as neither QB played particularly well, and WR depth was among the worst in the league. The Falcons are now signing WRs Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus to replace Darnell Mooney, but it'll be a while before Penix throws passes to his new teammates. Tagovailoa figures to handle first-team reps throughout the offseason program and into training camp, at the very least. Beyond that, a lot will depend on health, with both lefties sporting poor track records for availability.

David Moore: Re-signing with Carolina
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 4:36 PM
Moore agreed to terms Tuesday on a contract to remain with the Panthers, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Moore caught just one pass across four regular-season appearances in 2025. The depth wide receiver will likely reprise his role as an emergency option in 2026. Moore's deal is likely another one-year term around the league minimum, with additional money tied to incentives.

Romeo Doubs: Headed to New England
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 2:28 PM
Doubs and the Patriots have reached an agreement on a four-year contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The initial report has it as a four-year deal for "roughly" $70 million. In fantasy terms, this is about as good as it gets, with Doubs joining a receiver-needy offense that already has a franchise QB in place. He averaged 50.5 catches for 606 yards and 5.3 TDs on 80.0 targets in four seasons with Green Bay. The contract and situation in New England hint at some degree of upside for additional target volume, but it's also possible Doubs doesn't have much more to offer. If nothing else, he's a competent starter at a clear position of need, entering what should be his prime (Doubs will turn 26 in April).

Geno Smith: Joining Jets via trade
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 2:22 PM
New York have agreed to terms with the Raiders on a trade to acquire Smith and a 2026 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The next chapter of Smith's storied career will feature his return to the team that selected him in the second round of the 2013 Draft, and where he spent the first four years of his NFL career. Of course, it wasn't until his three years as a starter with Seattle from 2022-24 that Smith finally blossomed, earning two Pro Bowls and throwing for over 4,000 yards on two occasions. The 35-year-old signal-caller fell down to earth in rough fashion while playing behind Las Vegas' pourous offensive line in 2025, but the Jets will hope the veteran can find his footing again upon returning to New York, where he will benefit not only from superior protection behind a group anchored by tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou, but also a pair of valuable offensive playmakers in WR Garrett Wilson (knee) and RB Breece Hall (knee). Smith's arrival may also mean Justin Fields (knee) is no longer in the team's plans.

Ka'imi Fairbairn: Extended by Houston
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 1:37 PM
Fairbairn and the Texans have agreed on a two-year deal for the kicker, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
The contract is a two-year, $13 million extension, which makes Fairbairn the highest-paid kicker in the NFL. The 32-year-old made NFL history during the 2025 season by tying David Akers' 2011 record for most field goals in a single season with 44. This extension will likely provide continuity in special-teams production for the Texans as they chase a fourth consecutive playoff birth in the 2026 season.

Zane Gonzalez: Joining Dolphins on one-year deal
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 1:26 PM
Gonzalez has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Miami, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Gonzalez links forces with the Dolphins in advance of his age-31 season, coming off an impressive 2025 campaign in which he converted made 19 of 22 field-goal attempts and 17 of 18 point-after tries while logging nine regular-season appearances with the Falcons. Miami released longtime kicker Jason Sanders early March and faces the risk of losing Riley Patterson, who was tremendous as the team's starter in 2025, as a free agent. Gonzalez provides the Dolphins with a reliable starting option, though the team could still add competition at the position or work to re-sign Patterson.

Isiah Pacheco: Being signed by Lions
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 1:10 PM
Pacheco has agreed to terms on a contract with Detroit, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Pacheco fits in with the Lions as a complementary option alongside superstar running back Jahmyr Gibbs, replacing David Montgomery (traded to the Texans). In his first two seasons with the Chiefs the 2022 seventh-round pick seemed a legitimate breakout, averaging well over 4.0 YPC and leading the AFC powerhouse's backfield as a bruising between-the-tackles player. In part due to injuries, however, Pacheco has now logged back-to-back seasons with less than 500 rushing yards and averaging less than 4.0 YPC. Pacheco will be a candidate to rebound in Detroit, with opposing defenses primarily honing in on preventing Gibbs' big-play potential, though for fantasy purposes he's best considered in the category of sleeper or insurance option than as an RB2, as Montgomery once was with the Lions.

Kalif Raymond: Joins NFC North rivals
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 12:23 PM
Raymond is set to join the Bears on a one-year contract, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Raymond spent the past five years in Detroit, returning punts and kickoffs while typically serving as the third or fourth receiver. He'll turn 32 before Week 1 but should be able to handle a similar role for the Bears this year. The move to Chicago reunites Raymond with head coach Ben Johnson, formerly the offensive coordinator in Detroit.

Tyler Bass: Takes pay cut for 2026
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 12:09 PM
Bass (pelvis) agreed to a contract restructure with the Bills on Tuesday, Sal Maiorana of Democrat and Chronicle reports.
Bass, who missed Buffalo's entire 2025 campaign due to a pelvic injury that required surgery, was set to make $4.9 million during the 2026 season. However, he's since agreed to a contract restructure that saves the Bills roughly $1.92 million in cap space for next year. Bass is set to remain Buffalo's top placekicker for 2026, having converted 84.5 percent of his career field-goal attempts, including 69.6 percent from 50-plus yards, since entering the league in 2020.

Chris Godwin: Leads WR room post-Evans
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 12:00 PM
Godwin is the veteran leader of Tampa Bay's WR room following Mike Evans' departure to San Francisco, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
The Bucs signed Godwin to a three-year, $66 million contract last offseason, at which time he was rehabbing from a complicated leg/ankle injury. He ended up playing just nine games in 2025, finishing with a 33-360-2 receiving line, which was a massive drop-off from his 2024 line of 50-575-5 (in only seven games). Prior to the severe injury, he'd been well on his way to a fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season. Godwin now has a shot to get back to that kind of volume, though it's far from guaranteed at age 30, coming off consecutive injury-shortened seasons. WR Emeka Egbuka may be ready to take over as the No. 1 receiver in Tampa Bay, where there's additional competition for targets coming from WR Jalen McMillan, RB Bucky Irving, RB Kenneth Gainwell (recently signed) and TE Cade Otton (re-signed). Godwin's 2026 base salary ($22 million) is already guaranteed, but the Bucs will then have a club option for 2027 ($20.5 million base salary, $1.5 million roster bonus).
