Mayfield and the Buccaneers are not expected to engage in further contract talks prior to the start of the regular season, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Mayfield previously set a self-imposed deadline to finalize any new extension by the start of training camp, and with Wednesday's camp kickoff right around the corner, it appears the 31-year-old quarterback will play out 2026 on the final year of his deal. That leaves Mayfield in position to potentially hit free agency in 2027, though Tampa Bay will always have the option to deploy the franchise tag or negotiate an extension prior to the onset of free agency. Mayfield is looking to bounce back from an 2025 campaign in which he was held back by injuries, but he surpassed 4,000 passing yards in both of his prior season, including his 4,500-yard, 41-TD showing in 2024.

Aaron Rodgers said Tuesday he has high expectations for Wilson this season, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.

"I expect him to start to make some splash plays," Rodgers said. "He did in the spring. I expect him to have a nice camp." Rodgers was "practically glowing" when talking about Wilson on Tuesday, according to Saunders. Wilson logged just 33 percent of the offensive snaps in his 13 regular-season appearances last season and was essentially running wind sprints, as he was targeted only 21 times across those games and caught 12 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns. The 2024 third-round pick has a real chance to win the WR3 job behind DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman, however, as Wilson's main competition will be second-round rookie Germie Bernard. New coach Mike McCarthy is also expected to use more three-wide sets and fewer TE-heavy packages than outgoing offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

The chemistry between Brown and Drake Maye has been noticeably off through the first three days of training camp, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

Maye has completed just one of seven passes with an interception when targeting Brown in team drills through the first three days of practice. The lone completion was a wide-open quick out, and the duo is "far off" on deeper routes. It's not time to panic, of course, with 43 days before the start of the regular season to iron out any issues. Brown is currently being drafted as a top-20 pick in best-ball formats.

Mayfield remains under contract for 2026 and is locked in as Tampa Bay's starter, but the lack of movement keeps his long-term status unsettled as camp begins. The stalemate does not materially change his fantasy outlook in redraft formats, though a contract-year setup adds pressure for Mayfield to rebound after an injury-marred 2025 season. The former Cleveland QB has previously expressed a desire to conclude negotiations prior to the start of training camp in order to keep his full focus on team activities.

Colts GM Chris Ballard said Tuesday that Pierce (ankle) is a "week or so away" from practicing, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.

Pierce underwent ankle surgery in March and was given a return timeline of 4-to-6 months. He was placed on the active/PUP list to begin training camp Monday and can be activated at any time, but the goal all along has been for Pierce to be ready for Week 1. Fresh off re-signing with Indy on a four-year, $114 million deal and with Michael Pittman out of the picture, Pierce is expected to operate as the clear WR1 this season for quarterback Daniel Jones (Achilles).

New Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley said Achane (shoulder) has been cleared for the start of training camp, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports.

Achane dealt with a shoulder issue over the spring and was limited to individual drills at mandatory minicamp, but Hafley indicated his star running back has passed the conditioning test and will not open camp on the active/PUP list. Achane inked a four-year, $64 million extension with Miami earlier in the offseason and is once again expected to be the focal point of the offense after totaling 1,838 yards and 12 touchdowns from scrimmage across 16 regular-season games in 2025.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday that the Steelers will move Metcalf around the formation more in 2026, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.

Metcalf played just over 14 percent of his offensive snaps out of the slot last season, so perhaps the new coaching staff in Pittsburgh has a plan to get him more looks inside, which would translate to easier "layup" style catches and allow Metcalf to make plays with the ball in his hands. "We need him going," McCarthy said. "DK can change games." In his first season with Pittsburgh in 2025, Metcalf recorded a career-low 850 receiving yards on 59 catches across 15 regular-season contests. Headed into his second season with Aaron Rodgers, both players will hope for improved chemistry.

Evans (undisclosed) was carted off the field during Tuesday's practice, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Evans suffered an apparent injury during 11-on-11 team drills. Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports that trainers are attending to Evans' lower body. The 2025 fifth-rounder suited up for all 17 regular-season games last year, handling a depth role in Carolina's tight end corps.

Smith-Njigba said he wants to show "different levels" and become an "upgraded version" of himself in 2026 after leading the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards last season, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

Smith-Njigba enters camp as Seattle's clear offensive centerpiece after an Offensive Player of the Year season and Super Bowl run, but his surroundings have shifted. With former OC Klint Kubiak gone and first-time play caller Brian Fleury taking over, the offense could look notably different despite the return of quarterback Sam Darnold. Smith-Njigba is coming off a season that proves his elite fantasy ceiling beyond a doubt, but it remains to be seen whether Fleury can effectively move him around the formation and create mismatches the way Kubiak did.

Seattle waived McIntosh (knee) on Monday.

McIntosh missed all of last season while recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee and began training camp this year on the active/PUP list. It's unclear how far along he is in his recovery, but the Seahawks have decided to part ways with the 2023 seventh-round draft pick. All of McIntosh's offensive production to this point as a pro came in 2024, when he played in all 17 regular-season games and rushed 31 times for 172 yards and no scores while catching three of four targets for 22 yards. His 5.5 YPC that season and contributions on special teams, including as a kick returner, could be attractive to other clubs if McIntosh is able to show at some point that he's back to full health.
