Emari Demercado: Finds new home in KC
Thursday, March 12, 2026 8:35 PM

Demercado and the Chiefs have agreed to terms of a one-year contract, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.

Kansas City kicked off free agency by inking Super Bowl LX MVP and former Seahawk Kenneth Walker to lead the Chiefs backfield, and the addition of Demercado continues to the overhaul at the position. Demercado has racked up 126 carries for 819 yards (6.5 YPC) and three touchdowns and hauled in 50 of 70 targets for 324 yards and one more TD in 40 career regular-season games across three campaigns. He'll be in the mix for touches along with Brashard Smith behind Walker in 2026.

Connor Heyward: Heading to Las Vegas as fullback
Thursday, March 12, 2026 7:35 PM

Heyward and the Raiders agreed to terms on a two-year, $5.5 million contract Thursday that includes $2 million guaranteed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Heyward was selected by the Steelers in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and spent the first four years of his professional career in Pittsburgh. He was used mostly on special teams last year but was also used as a rusher on short yard-to-gain situations, finishing with 15 carries for 43 yards and two touchdowns across 17 regular-season games. Per Rapoport, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak intends to use Heyward more as a fullback in the Las Vegas offense.

Kylen Granson: Lands in Tennessee
Thursday, March 12, 2026 7:13 PM

Granson signed a one-year deal with the Titans on Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The tight end finished the 2025 campaign with career lows in catches (seven), targets (nine) and receiving yards (40). Granson also played more on special teams than defense for the Eagles. The former Colt will now try to find a role with the Titans.

Kyler Murray: Lands one-year deal from Minnesota
Thursday, March 12, 2026 6:27 PM

The Vikings signed Murray to a one-year contract Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

With Murray set to collect $36.8 million from the Cardinals in 2026 following his release from the team, Murray will earn the veteran league minimum from the Vikings, according to Schefter. The contract also contains a no-tag clause for next offseason, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Minnesota was always viewed as the likely landing spot for Murray, and he'll now be considered the slight favorite to win the QB1 job over J.J. McCarthy, though this will be one of the more fascinating position battles of the summer. After winning Rookie of the Year in 2019 followed by back-to-back Pro Bowl selections in 2020 and 2021, Murray's career was somewhat derailed by injuries and poor play. A fresh start appeared to be necessary, and he'll now have Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison at his disposal should he win the job over McCarthy.

Calvin Austin: Signs one-year pact with G-Men
Thursday, March 12, 2026 6:06 PM

The Giants signed Austin to a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

It's a nice landing spot for Austin, in the sense there isn't a whole lot of proven competition at the wide receiver spot behind Malik Nabers (knee), as Austin looks like a current favorite to be part of the team's three-wide set alongside Malik Nabers (knee) and Darius Slayton after Wan'Dale Robinson left in free agency. Austin failed to gel with Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh last season, securing just 31 of 55 targets for 372 yards and three touchdowns across 14 regular-season appearances. Austin averaged 15.2 yards per catch in 2024 and offers theoretical big-play potential.

Will Grier: Cut by Dallas
Thursday, March 12, 2026 5:53 PM

The Cowboys released Grier on Thursday.

Grier inked a reserve/future contract with the team last month but is now out after Dallas signed Sam Howell as the team's QB3 this week. The 30-year-old Grier hasn't appeared in a regular-season NFL game since his 2019 rookie season with Carolina.

Emanuel Wilson: Joining Seattle's backfield
Thursday, March 12, 2026 5:14 PM

The Seahawks are slated to sign Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to 2.1 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

While working as Josh Jacobs' top backup with Green Bay in 2025, Wilson recorded 496 yards and three TDs on 125 carries, along with 99 receiving yards on 15 catches in 17 regular-season games. With Kenneth Walker departing via free agency and Zach Charbonnet having suffered a torn ACL in January, Wilson could potentially earn a key early-season role in a Seattle backfield that also includes George Holani and Kenny McIntosh, though it's possible that the team adds further RB depth in the coming weeks/months.

Tutu Atwell: Miami native returning home
Thursday, March 12, 2026 4:21 PM

Atwell is signing a one-year contract with the Dolphins, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports Thursday.

Atwell had 1,535 receiving yards and five touchdown catches in five regular seasons with the Rams. The Miami native should help the Dolphins stretch the field with his speed. Atwell joins a wide receiver room that doesn't have much depth behind Jaylen Waddle (ribs), as no wide receiver besides Waddle (910) exceeded 317 receiving yards for Miami in 2025.

Daniel Jones: Extension official
Thursday, March 12, 2026 4:04 PM

The Colts officially signed Jones (Achilles) to a two-year contract extension Thursday,

Jones' contract not only provides an extra year of security with Indianapolis beyond the transition tag, that was initially extended to him, but it gives him a base salary of $50 million for 2026, per Brigid Kennedy of SI.com, $12.2 million above the tag amount even before including his $6 million in incentives. The 28-year-old said Wednesday on The Pat McAfee Show that he's fully recovered from the broken left fibula injury he dealt with in 2025 and that he's "making good progress with the rehab" from the right Achilles he suffered in December, as Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports. Jones said his goal is to "be back by Week 1 and ready to go," but it's far from a sure thing that he will be fully cleared for the start of the regular season, given the severe nature of his injury. Second-year quarterback Riley Leonard would be a candidate to start the year if Jones isn't ready to kick off there regular season, as Anthony Richardson (eye) is actively seeking a trade away from Indianapolis.

Justin Fields: Starting days with Jets likely over
Thursday, March 12, 2026 3:39 PM

Fields (knee) is expected to be replaced by Geno Smith as the Jets' starting quarterback in 2026, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

The Jets agreed Tuesday to trade for Smith from the Raiders, and the move was made official the following day. Fields remains on the roster for now, though the Jets could save $10 million in cap space by cutting the embattled quarterback. After signing a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets last offseason, Fields posted a 2-7 record as a starter while averaging 140 passing yards per game. He finished the season on injured reserve due to a knee injury.
