He also had more receptions Sunday than in any game during the 2023 season. Montgomery will look to build on Sunday's performance and is a mid-range RB2 against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.

This would leave the lion's share of backfield touches in the sixth-year back's hands for at least one more week. It is believed by some in the fantasy community that Gibbs may supersede the veteran in the pecking order this season. Whether that is the case or not -- only time will tell. Regardless, both Detroit RBs are excellent plays this week and season-long. Additionally, they both hold baked-in upside if either one were to miss any time. Montgomery is RotoBaller's RB22 in this week's rankings.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb scored his first touchdown of the season with an electrifying 65-yard reception in Sunday's 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints. After signing a lucrative contract extension, the All-Pro was out to prove his worth, finishing the game with four receptions for 90 yards and a score. Lamb remained the focal point of the Cowboys' offense, seeing seven targets, the second-most on the team behind Jalen Tolbert's nine. He'll have a tough matchup against the Ravens in Week 3, but remains a must-start in all leagues.

For those just looking at the stat line, the Cowboys didn't take to the air much in the second half of Week 1. Expect more from Lamb in a home game against the Saints. The fact that he was involved with some rushes is also a good sign as he has the skill set to take an end-around to the house. Lamb should move around the formation and be involved early and often in Week 2 in what figures to be a more competitive game. Not that fantasy managers need reassurance to start a player likely drafted with a top 3 pick but Lamb should be fired up with a great deal of confidence.

Lamb missed the entire preseason while holding out for a contract extension, and at points it was unclear if he'd even play in Week 1. He did, of course, and saw 10 targets, making five catches for 61 yards. Lamb was the top overall fantasy pass catcher last season and has a good chance to do it again this season. He'll only heat up more and once he gets more up to speed he should distance himself from the rest of the Cowboys pass catchers. He'll be a weekly WR1 regardless of matchups.

In the Chicago Bears' Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans, running back Khalil Herbert scored the team's only touchdown. Despite only getting two carries, Herbert made a significant impact, including a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that brought the Bears within 13-10. With the Bears needing a score before halftime, they turned to Herbert, a former Virginia Tech standout, to deliver. The touchdown came on a critical third-and-goal situation, frustrating D'Andre Swift's managers, who were hoping for a score from Swift. Although Herbert isn't the primary back for the Bears, his role in the offense remains clear. Since being drafted by Chicago in 2021, Herbert has consistently contributed, and his performance solidifies his value as a handcuff for Swift owners. While he may not lead the backfield, Herbert's ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities makes him a valuable asset in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will kickoff against the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday. The former third-round pick began his sophomore season last week with a career day, hitting six of six field goal attempts from 46, 51, 31, 53, 23, and 42 yards away. He also hit both of his extra-point attempts. Minnesota's defense is probably nothing special -- regardless of their domination of Daniel Jones and the New York Giants last week -- so Moody should be able to ride the coattails of San Francisco's explosive offensive attack as usual. It might actually be a good thing for Moody that touchdown hog Christian McCaffrey is sidelined (Achilles). If Moody has improved his accuracy issues from last year and the 49ers continue to put him in positions of field goal volume, the talented Moody will be a top fantasy option for the foreseeable future. He's a top-3 play in Week 2.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will open his sophomore season with a Monday night home game versus the New York Jets. Moody finished his rookie season in 2023 tied with Atlanta's Younghoe Koo as the K17 in fantasy points per game. Moody and Koo took very different routes to those numbers, though. Moody only attempted 25 field goals to Koo's 37. The difference was made up in extra points, as Moody led the league in the category and set a record with 53 straight. Lack of opportunity aside, Moody does have room for improvement in his accuracy; he recorded an 84% last year, which was near the bottom of the league. The Jets defense is expected to be stout but if their defense is anything like last year's, the 49ers should be able to move the ball on the ground at least. The weather in Santa Clara on Monday night is expected to be near-perfect. Moody is a back-end fantasy starter in Week 1.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) is officially inactive for Week 2, as expected. He has been designated as the Steelers' emergency third quarterback, which means he could enter the game if both Justin Fields and Kyle Allen suffer injuries and can't return. Fields is on track to make his second consecutive start, and if Pittsburgh starts 2-0, they could continue to ride the hot hand regardless of whether Wilson is healthy in Week 3.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that he will list quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) as questionable for the Week 2 game in Denver against the Broncos. Wilson has been practicing on a limited basis this week, but all signs are pointing to him missing a second straight game to begin his tenure in Pittsburgh after aggravating a calf injury that he dealt with in training camp this summer. Tomlin admitted earlier this week that the team was preparing Justin Fields to start against the Broncos. However, there is a belief that the 35-year-old Wilson will be given the starting job back once he's fully cleared to play in games again, which could come as soon as Week 3 at home against the Los Angeles Chargers. We'll know for sure on Sunday morning, but all signs point to Fields starting. The former Chicago Bears QB profiles as a low-end QB2 for fantasy managers.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) was limited in practice for the second straight day with a calf injury that kept him out of the season-opening win against the Atlanta Falcons. Justin Fields got the start in Week 1, and with Wilson still nursing his calf injury, the Steelers continue to prepare as if Fields will start in Week 2 on the road against the Denver Broncos. For what it's worth, the 35-year-old Wilson says he's "getting closer and closer" to playing, but it looks like he'll sit out a second straight week as the team plays it cautious with him. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that even though Fields is expected to start in Week 2, the belief is that Wilson will get the starting job once he returns from his calf injury. The Steelers think Wilson's command of the offense is stronger, and it seems as though only an explosive performance from Fields would change that plan.

Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle led the team's backfield with 11 touches in the Week 2 loss to the New Orleans Saints. He logged seven carries for 30 yards and added four catches for 29 yards. With the Saints jumping out to an early lead, the Cowboys were forced to pass more, creating a favorable game script for Dowdle. Although he didn't catch a pass for more than nine yards, Dowdle served as a reliable safety valve for quarterback Dak Prescott, often catching checkdowns. Next week, the Cowboys face a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens' stout front, which held the Las Vegas Raiders to just 27 rushing yards. This could force the Cowboys to rely on the passing game again, making Dowdle a potential streaming option in PPR formats.

Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle was involved in the team's game plan in Week 1 against the Browns but will need to improve his efficiency before becoming a fantasy player worth starting in most leagues. Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle didn't have the best start to his 2024 season. The 26-year-old was expected to split up the touches with veteran Ezekiel Elliott during Sunday's season opener. The two of them did split up the carries, but Dowdle failed to do much with them. He rushed eight times for 26 yards while hauling in one reception for six yards in the blowout win. Elliott didn't do much better on the ground with 40 yards, but he was able to find the end zone. The expectation is that these two will continue to split up the job until one of them pulls away with it. That being said, Dowdle should still have some streaming value in Week 2, but he has lost some appeal after that lackluster start.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper caught three of his eight targets for 11 yards in an 18-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2. It was another quiet outing for Cooper, who struggled with drops for the second consecutive contest. Cooper tied for the team lead in targets but was vastly outproduced by Jerry Jeudy, who went for 73 yards on five catches. Overall, the veteran wideout has just five catches for 27 yards through the first two games of the season. With Cooper struggling and with Deshaun Watson taking a liking to Jeudy in the passing game, fantasy managers should downgrade him to a WR4 heading into a Week 3 matchup against the New York Giants.

Cooper could bounce back as early as next week against a Jacksonville Jaguars secondary that just allowed both Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to post 100-yard games in Week 1.

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry caught eight of 12 targets for 109 yards during the team's 23-20 overtime loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. The veteran was the target on nearly half of Jacoby Brissett's pass attempts, showcasing a strong rapport and sense of trust between the tight end and quarterback. Nevertheless, this outcome may have surprised some fantasy managers who expected a quieter game from Henry after he caught just two passes in the season opener. Henry's big Week 2 game gives him plenty of fantasy intrigue ahead of Week 3, but managers should still temper expectations knowing that the Patriots want to employ a run-first approach this year. As a result, Henry is more of a security blanket or reliable veteran option rather than a star target. He can be viewed as a mid-to-high TE2 heading into Thursday Night Football against the New York Jets.

New England passed just 24 times on Sunday, which likely isn't enough volume to allow Henry to produce on a consistent basis. He's a fringe top-24 tight end heading into next week against Seattle.
