San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. was impressive in a 23-17 loss to the Vikings in Minneapolis on Sunday. He caught eight of 10 targets for 110 yards receiving -- all team-high figures. Samuel Sr.'s hands were particularly sticky in this one, with multiple difficult receptions coming on contested passes. In a bit of a departure from his usual style, relatively few of his yards came after the catch. Although it didn't matter in the end, Samuel Sr. made a great hustle play in the 49ers' final possession near the goal line when linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel jumped a backward wide receiver screen pass intended for Samuel Sr., who got back to secure the ball when Van Ginkel bobbled it. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, it counted as a carry for a loss of nine yards. He would finish with two carries for minus-10 yards. Samuel Sr. will look to keep it going in a road tilt against the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. is in Minnesota as the team prepares for a Week 2 matchup versus the Vikings. The former South Carolina Gamecock fulfilled expectations and then some in Week 1 against the New York Jets. Last year's Vikings defense was sixth-worst in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers in half-PPR. Samuel Sr. is a locked-and-loaded WR1 in Week 2.

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts will be looking for more volume in Week 2 heading into Monday Night's football game versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Although he did find the end zone on broken coverage in Week 1, the volume was not what fantasy managers were hoping for with new quarterback Kirk Cousins under center. Pitts only saw three targets and caught all three for 26 yards beyond the lone touchdown. If the Falcons can make the adjustments they need in Week 2, Pitts remains a crucial weapon in this offense and should muster up more than the three targets he received in Week 1's underwhelming performance by Kirk Cousins and the rest of Atlanta's offense. His versatility between lining up as a tight end and as a wide receiver should make it difficult for the Eagles secondary to cover him. Despite the lack of targets in Week 1, Pitts remains a must-start and is currently TE6 in the latest RotoBaller rankings for Week 2.

He responded immediately with a 1,000-yard season in his rookie year, but it came with just one touchdown. Pitts underwhelmed the last two years, but he also hasn't worked with great QBs. Many folks are expecting his fourth season to be his best in 2024 now that QB Kirk Cousins is leading the offense. Pitts should be locked into fantasy lineups in Week 1.

Orlando Ledbetter, Pitts says that he'll be 100% ready to go on Sunday in their contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 23-year-old is entering a very important season in his career now that he has a quarterback with more throwing ability than any other one he played with so far. Expectations are higher for Pitts and the Falcons offense as a whole, so the fact that he says he should be 100% healthy is encouraging. With this news, fantasy managers should be more comfortable playing him against the Steelers as he tries to get back to big receiving numbers like his rookie season.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers received targets in all sorts of ways in Week 1, but it didn't amount to a touchdown or many yards. His value is at its highest in PPR and half-PPR formats, and that trend is likely to continue against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2. The main reason he hasn't reached steady WR1 territory is the lack of yards per route run (0.69) and his average depth of target (5.2 yards). With that being said, Flowers ran 48 routes and was targeted 20.8% of the time in those routes. He also has a top-30-rated matchup against the opposing defensive backs according to PFF. Fantasy managers can look toward Flowers to be a solid WR2 in this Week 2 slate.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers received about as many touches as expected but couldn't turn it into many fantasy points in the 20-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Flowers had a lot of manufactured touches in the form of short passes, runs, and catches behind the line of scrimmage. That turned into 10 targets, six receptions, and 37 yards while taking two carries for 14 yards. For the most part, he was bottled up by Trent McDuffie while Lamar Jackson was running more often than not to escape pressure. Flowers will likely find more space to operate as the season progresses, but it remains to be seen if there will be more play calls to send him further down the field.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers heads into the season opener with more to prove after producing a game-changing mistake in the AFC Championship game last year. His fumble against the Kansas City Chiefs overshadowed his excellent year which saw him finishing just outside of a WR2 in half-PPR formats. The speedy wideout from Boston College saw a steady diet of targets and led the receiving corps in snaps by a wide margin. That shouldn't change as he comes into this year as the team's WR1. He ended the regular season by averaging 16.9 fantasy points in the final five games in PPR formats, which is where he shines the most. While he'll get plenty of opportunities in this revenge game against the Chiefs on Thursday, look for Flowers to be more of a low-end WR2 against a pass defense that remains to be seen after the loss of L'Jarius Sneed.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren turned nine carries into 42 rushing yards and two catches into 19 receiving yards in a Week 2 win over the Denver Broncos. Warren, who saw just four opportunities in Pittsburgh's season opener, had a much more prominent role on Sunday and was effective with his touches. He continues to run behind teammate Najee Harris but could push for even more snaps next week as he works his way back from a hamstring injury. Although the third-year pro lacks touchdown upside, he is a skilled pass-catcher who should be rostered in PPR formats. He will project as an RB3 or low-end flex option against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren saw only four opportunities last week but will hope to be more involved against the Denver Broncos in Week 2. Although Warren practiced in full leading up to Pittsburgh's season opener, it's fair to wonder if the team planned to limit his usage in his first game action since returning from a hamstring injury. If the 25-year-old gets additional work on Sunday, he could post solid numbers against a Denver defense that has struggled to stop the run since the beginning of the 2023 campaign. His pass-catching skillset gives him some appeal in PPR formats, but fantasy managers should not consider Warren as anything more than a low-end flex option until they see him split touches more evenly with running mate Najee Harris.

New Orleans Saints third-year receiver Rashid Shaheed has been all "boom" so far this season, as he has now scored long touchdowns in back-to-back weeks. The explosive playmaker caught all four of his targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in the Week 2 win over the Dallas Cowboys. He also rushed the ball three times for 13 yards. Shaheed's 25% target share was promising, especially after tying for the team lead in targets a week ago. If the speedster continues to see a consistent target share, he will become a more reliable week-to-week starter in fantasy. Shaheed will look to continue his hot streak next week against Philadelphia.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed connected with quarterback Derek Carr on a 59-yard touchdown bomb early in the first quarter, marking the first touchdown of the Sunday slate. Shaheed and the Saints would go on to win 47-10 over divisional rival Carolina. The speedster was targeted five times, accounting for 20% of the team's targets. He caught three passes for 73 yards and a score, proving he will again be a boom-or-bust option. Shaheed will be a tougher start in Week 2 against a Dallas defense that stifled Cleveland in Week 1.

Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Devaughn Vele (ribs) missed practice all week with an injury to his ribs and was officially ruled out on Friday for the team's Week 2 home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's extremely disappointing for Vele, who caught all eight of his targets for 39 yards on 49% of the offensive snaps in the Week 1 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 26-year-old seventh-round selection this year seems to have already built some nice chemistry with fellow rookie quarterback Bo Nix, but he'll have to get healthy first before hoping to carve out a role as the WR3 in Denver in his first year in the NFL. For now, Vele is mostly just a bench stash in deep fantasy leagues and dynasty/keeper formats. Vele's absence on Sunday will create more targets for Courtland Sutton, Josh Reynolds and Marvin Mims Jr. against a tough defense.

Both wideouts were pivotal pieces in Denver's passing attack against the Seahawks despite the 26-20 loss. For either player to participate in the Bronco's Week 2 home tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they'll need to get in at least one limited session before the weekend. Of note: while the rookie wideout averaged just 4.9 yards a grab this past Sunday, he was in on 34 of Denver's snaps (49%) and ran 83.9% of his routes from the slot. After a one-game sample, at least -- it would appear Sean Payton has found his "big-slot" guy.

Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Devaughn Vele made a statement in his NFL debut on Sunday in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field. Vele didn't have a banner day by any means with just 39 receiving yards, but his eight receptions (on eight targets) surprisingly led the team on a day in which the Broncos offense couldn't really move the ball at all consistently in rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix's NFL debut. Vele caught all eight of the balls thrown his way in this one and was tied for second in targets with Josh Reynolds, behind Courtland Sutton's 12. Vele, a seventh round pick this year, wasn't targeted very far beyond the line of scrimmage with his eight receptions, but just that fact that he commanded that much attention from Nix is notable. The 26-year-old seems to have developed some good chemistry with his QB and is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues as a waiver pickup.

Seattle Seahawks tight end Noah Fant (toe) was removed from the team's final injury report on Friday and will suit up for the Week 2 contest versus the New England Patriots. Meanwhile, tight end Pharaoh Brown (foot) has been ruled out. There wasn't much question as to whether Fant would be able to play this weekend, but he shouldn't be in many starting fantasy lineups in the second week of the 2024 season. The 26-year-old played 75 percent of the offensive snaps in the Week 1 win over his former team, the Denver Broncos, but it translated to only two catches on four targets for 11 yards receiving. Although Seattle is running a new offense this year under coordinator Ryan Grubb, not much is expected of Fant after he had career-lows in catches (32), targets (43), receiving yards (414) and touchdowns (zero) in 2023. Fant profiles as a touchdown-dependent, low-end TE2 in fantasy in Week 2.

He'll be on the TE2 radar for this weekend's matchup against the Patriots.

Barring a setback with his toe injury, he should be just fine to play in Week 2 against the New England Patriots. Fant took a major step back in this offense last year, so unless one or two of the Seahawks' trio of wide receivers go down with an injury, he's likely to be a low-upside, low-floor, low-end TE2 option for fantasy managers in 2024.

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during pre-game warmups on Sunday and has been ruled out for Week 2 against the visiting Cleveland Browns. Fantasy managers that had Engram in their starting lineups for this weekend are going to have to adjust on the fly. In Jacksonville, Brenton Strange and Luke Farrell will now battle for targets in the passing game with Engram sidelined, but neither player is an acceptable starting replacement for Engram. The most likely scenario is that wide receivers Christian Kirk, rookie Brian Thomas Jr. and Gabe Davis will see more targets through the air against a tough Browns defense. The 30-year-old Engram had a rough season debut last week as well, catching only one of four targets for five yards in the loss to the Miami Dolphins. There's no guarantee he'll be able to play in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills.

Establishing the run seems like the ideal strategy for the Jaguars, but they will have to throw the ball to someone. That leaves the door open for a potential mismatch like Engram to have a solid outing, and maybe catch a touchdown to produce a great fantasy outing. Engram is too talented at a shallow position to consider benching, but his upside is somewhat limited in a tough matchup.

Week 1 was not kind to the Jaguars from a fantasy perspective, with the offense struggling, especially in the passing game. While the final stat line is concerning, a positive takeaway for Engram was he tied for the team lead in targets with four. The former Giants TE was drafted as a TE1 by most fantasy managers so that this performance will leave a sour taste in their mouths. However, given the volatility and lack of depth in the fantasy position, Engram should still be relied on as a fantasy starter going forward. The Jaguars offense should improve in the coming weeks, meaning Engram should be way more involved. It may not feel great, but Engram should be started once again with expectations for a bounce-back performance in Week 2, even against the tough Cleveland Browns secondary.
