Williams completed 21 of 29 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns while carrying the ball 10 times for 65 yards and two more TDs in Sunday's 59-37 win over the Panthers.

In the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history, Williams led the Bears on nine separate scoring drives, tossing TDs to Cole Kmet in the second quarter and Jahdae Walker in the fourth, while adding rushing scores of his own in the first and second quarters. The third-year QB produced a career-high 30 touchdowns in 2025, 27 through the air and three on the ground, but he may be poised to shatter that mark in 2026. Williams will face a likely tougher test at home in Week 2 against the Vikings.

Coach Ben Johnson lauded Williams' approach Tuesday as the quarterback enters his third NFL campaign, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports. "He's executing at a much higher clip than he ever has, and I think it's going to continue to grow," Johnson said. "He's going to continue to elevate everyone around him, coaches included."

Williams played just one possession during exhibition season, leading the Bears to a Cairo Santos field goal to kick off preseason Week 2 at Cincinnati. The performance (2-for-5 passing for 28 yards, no TDs and no interceptions) was nothing to write home about, but Williams is set to take another step forward in his development in 2026. There are two question marks within Chicago's skill positions as Week 1 approaches: RB Kyle Monangai is attempting to put a hyperextended knee behind him, while WR Luther Burden is continuing his recovery from an early August groin injury. Having said that, Williams still has the healthy trio of RB D'Andre Swift, WR Rome Odunze and TE Colston Loveland at his services, so the QB's first 4,000-yard season through the air may be on the horizon.

Corum rushed 10 times for 54 yards and wasn't targeted during the Rams' 27-7 Week 1 loss to the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia.

Corum's backfield mate Kyren Williams worked as the starting running back and logged his first carry on the Rams' second play from scrimmage, but Corum garnered his first touch to start Los Angeles' second drive and ripped off a nine-yard run. The third-year pro would go on to outpace Williams by 13 rushing yards on one fewer carry, although Corum's lack of a pass-game role was a disappointment. Nevertheless, it appears preseason talk about an even closer division of labor between the two backs this season could have some credibility as a Week 2 home matchup against the Giants on Monday night, Sept. 21 approaches.

Corum was rested for all three of the Rams' preseason contests.

Though Kyren Williams remains listed as the top running back on the Rams' unofficial depth chart, head coach Sean McVay's decision to hold out Corum throughout the preseason along with many of the team's key players suggests that the 24-year-old is essentially being treated as a co-starter heading into his third NFL season. After seeing limited action as a rookie in 2024, Corum doubled up his snap count in Year 2, finishing the regular season with 746 yards and six touchdowns on 145 carries while chipping in eight receptions for 36 yards on 14 targets over 17 games. While Williams remains the better bet to lead the Los Angeles backfield in carries in 2026, Corum could be primed to take on at least a slightly larger share of the workload after he was highly efficient with his opportunities a season ago.

Odunze caught two of three targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 59-37 win over the Panthers.

In the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history, Odunze didn't get much of a chance to contribute, with Kalif Raymond (8-84-0 on nine targets) and Luther Burden (5-63-0 on five targets) getting more looks from Caleb Williams and the ground game accounting for six of the Bears' eight TDs. Better days should be ahead for Odunze, perhaps as soon as Week 2 at home against the Vikings.

Despite being a limited participant throughout Week 1 prep while managing the calf injury that first cropped up Sept. 3, Odunze has received the green light to play in the Bears' season opener. Odunze should handle his usual starting role, and the Bears haven't provided any indication that he'll have his snaps limited as a result of the injury.

Odunze (calf), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Carolina, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Odunze made an early exit from practice Sept. 3 due to a right leg injury that was confirmed as a calf issue upon the Bears posting their first Week 1 practice report Wednesday. He proceeded to log three consecutive limited sessions, and Rapoport's report implies Odunze won't be among the team's inactives for the regular-season opener. Chicago will post such a list approximately 90 minutes before a 1 p.m. ET kickoff, and if he's active, Odunze will join Luther Burden as the top wide receivers available to quarterback Caleb Williams.

Marks rushed nine times for 42 yards and caught his lone target for a two-yard loss in the Texans' 36-31 loss to the Bills on Sunday.

While David Montgomery stole the headlines with three total touchdowns, Montgomery wasn't exactly efficient with his 20 carries, turning them into just 60 yards (3.0 YPC). Marks averaged 4.7 yards per carry with his nine attempts and actually out-snapped his veteran backfield mate 40 to 39 and ran 20 routes to Montgomery's 14, proving the 50-50 split talk from the summer to be true in the season opener. Marks remains an elite fantasy bench stash with some standalone value as an RB3 during bye weeks.

Marks is expected to split backfield work pretty evenly with David Montgomery this season, Jonathan Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.

"The distribution ... might not be 50-50, but it will be close," Alexander wrote Aug. 23. "The Texans have utilized both nearly evenly throughout camp." Alexander expects a sort-of hot-hand approach out of the Houston backfield on a weekly basis. Marks played 10 snaps in the Texans' second preseason game and rushed four times for 37 yards and one touchdown. He also added a catch for six yards, working exclusively with the first-team offense while Montgomery was rested for that exhibition. Marks is being drafted nearly five rounds after Montgomery in fantasy.

Bates made his lone field-goal attempt and all four of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 31-30 overtime win over the Saints.

Bates had a subpar 2025 season, converting just 27 of 34 field-goal tries and 54 of 56 PATs, and he followed it up with a rough preseason this summer. However, he was perfect against New Orleans, converting a chip-shot 23-yard field goal with the four extra points. Bates led all NFL kickers in point-after attempts and makes last season in Detroit's high-powered offense. If he can get his field-goal percentage back up closer to 90 percent, Bates should regain K1 status in fantasy this season.

Croskey-Merritt rushed 16 times for 63 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for a seven-yard loss in a defeat to the Eagles on Sunday.

Croskey-Merritt (groin) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Philadelphia.

Hunter spent the last two weeks of training camp primarily at cornerback, while logging only occasional snaps at wide receiver, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
