Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich suggested Tuesday that Lloyd could be part of a backfield committee to begin the season while Josh Jacobs (personal) remains on the Commissioner's Exempt List, Weston Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports. "It's gonna be running back by committee for a little bit to see where everyone is at," Stenavich said. "[Lloyd] definitely has explosive ability, playmaking ability."

Though he profiles as the most enticing fantasy option of a backfield group that includes Kaleb Johnson and Chris Brooks, Lloyd doesn't look like he'll be called upon to handle a workhorse role out of the backfield amid Jacobs' absence. While Lloyd made it through training camp and the preseason unscathed and showed some dynamism as both a ball carrier and pass catcher, durability was a major concern over his first two NFL seasons; he's thus far been limited to just one career game on account of multiple soft-tissue injuries in addition to an emergency appendectomy. As such, the Packers are unlikely to ask Lloyd to shoulder heavy workloads, especially with Johnson on hand to serve as a between-the-tackles rushing complement and with Brooks available to spell him on passing downs.

With both Josh Jacobs (groin) landing on the Commissioner's Exempt List and Kaleb Johnson being acquired by the Packers on Sunday, Lloyd now finds himself in a reconfigured Packers backfield.

Lloyd has appeared in just one regular-season game since being selected by the Packers in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but with Jacobs out of action for the time being Lloyd is now the top available option on the depth chart. Both Johnson and Chris Brooks -- who excels at pass blocking -- figure to factor into the mix sans Jacobs, but with Johnson just joining the team, Lloyd now finds himself as the favorite to pick up carries.

Evans (adductor) was not listed on the injury report the 49ers released Tuesday, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Evans has been slowed by injuries since early August, but he apparently is back at 100 percent in advance of Week 1. Barring any setbacks, he seems set to fill a starting wide receiver spot when the 49ers kick off their 2026 campaign against the Rams in Australia.

Evans (adductor) was spotted on the field in full uniform during the open portion of Monday's practice in Melbourne, Australia, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Wagoner notes that linebacker Nick Bosa (knee) and running back Christian McCaffrey (undisclosed) were the only 49ers players who didn't appear to be mixing into team drills during the open portion of practice, so Evans appears likely to have been at least a limited participant in Monday's session. The 49ers will release their first injury report of the season later Monday, when the extent of Evans' practice participation will be revealed. Evans had his practice activity managed for much of training camp while he contended with a minor quadriceps strain and, more recently, an adductor injury.

Evans (groin) returned to practice Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Evans has barely practiced this summer due to various nagging injuries, but his return to the field Wednesday gives him some time to get ready for next Thursday's season opener against the Rams in Australia. The Niners are flying out Wednesday of this week to get their body clocks acclimated to the time change. As long as Evans avoids setbacks over the next week, he should be available against Los Angeles, though it's fair to wonder how much chemistry he's built with Brock Purdy at this point.

Jacobs' next court date has been moved up from Nov. 17 to Sept. 10, Michael Gross of Fox 11 Green Bay reports. Jacobs is expected to be represented by his attorney and won't personally appear at the hearing.

General manager Brian Gutekunst said Tuesday that he anticipates Jacobs (personal) playing for the Packers at some point in 2026, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

The NFL placed Jacobs (personal) on the Commissioner's Exempt List on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Tucker (undisclosed) will likely be a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Tucker (undisclosed) didn't practice Wednesday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Tucker agreed to a one-year contract Sunday with $2.5 million guaranteed to remain with the Buccaneers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.
