Encinas Takes Lead in Playoff Challenge; Special HSFF Hour Tomorrow

Encinas Surges To Challenge Top

Sample’s Examples Up By 7.5 With 2 Weekends To Go

With only three games remaining in the 2016-17 World Famous Playoff Challenge, JA Encinas has a significant 297.7-290.2 lead over the second place BSA6 owned by Arianna Weinshel. Dez Bryant’s big-time 34.6-point performance led the way for Encinas, but Aaron Rodgers (26.4), Julian Edelman (22.9), Devonta Freeman (22.5) all played big roles as well in Sample’s Examples’ 171.1 Week 2 score.

Heading into the conference championship games, Chris Puchowicz finds himself in sole possession of third place, only 1.2 points behind Weinshel. Coming in at fourth is Brian Denneny’s GoPokes2 with Puchowicz and Michael Bizzario in a tie for fifth. Congrats to Puchowicz who has three teams in the top 20 right now, and look out for last year’s Playoff Challenge winner Harshal Sheth who is looming in 17th place overall.

OTG Champs on THURSDAY Show

With Dave Gerczak off this week, 2016 FFPC Off-The-Grid champs John Modaff and Tom Zoretic co-host The High Stakes Fantasy Football Hour with me on a special THURSDAY night show at 10/9c. We’ll talk about what it was like bidding with real cash on their draft slots in this format as well as how their strategy changed with the weekly skins awarded. Plus we’ll take a look at the top tier of running backs in 2017 and some rookies and free agents to pay attention to as well.

The High Stakes Fantasy Football Hour normally airs Friday nights at 10/9c, and the Modaff/Zoretic episode can be heard here. You can hang out with the high stakes players in the show’s chat room if you want to listen live, but you can always catch the replay of our show on the Fantasy Sports Radio Network on Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. ET. Plus, on-demand  streaming is available for listening anytime via iTunes, YouTubeGoogle PlayStitcher RadioTuneIn Radio, Spreaker, or Overcast on your iPhone or Android device as well.

Take Hold of Your Dynasty

Don’t let your participation in the game end with the Super Bowl, players! Enjoy fantasy football year round when you play dynasty with the FFPC now–the Home of High Stakes Dynasty Fantasy Football!

This is just a quick reminder that if you want to to play high stakes dynasty fantasy football, picking up one of these teams is your best bet to get involved. We don’t open new start-up dynasty leagues at the FFPC until all existing teams have been claimed, so jump in the action today.

A big misconception about these dynasty teams is that they are being sold because they are not competitive, which really is not the case most of the time. As we all know, sometimes life gets in the way of fantasy football, and sometimes the best choice is to sell your team rather than miss out on the fun of fully managing it.

Check out all the teams on the FFPC Message Boards at the threads below. You can see their entire rosters as well as what draft picks each team holds in 2017. In order to buy one, just send Dave an email at dave@myffpc.com, and he’ll let you know how you can take care of your deposit and entry fee for 2017.

The prices for each squad are listed next to the roster on the message board, but you can also make your best offer when you email Dave if you don’t want to take the team over at full price. Take a look at all of the FFPC Dynasty teams available now:

FFPC Donates $50,000 To SBFSTA; Ranaghan Leads Playoff Challenge

All Challenge Proceeds Donated

FFPC Send $50K To SBFSTA For Fair Fantasy Laws Fight

Before we get into the news around the fantasy aspects of the FFPC this week, I wanted to lead off with this message from FFPC co-founder Alex Kaganovsky:

“As promised, the FFPC is donating proceeds from the 2016/17 FFPC Playoff Challenge to the Small Businesses of Fantasy Sports Trade Association (SBFSTA) to continue fighting for fair and reasonable fantasy sports legislation across the country.

While $50,000 may seem like a significant amount, and it is, it is nowhere near what is needed to cover the SBFSTA costs in 2017 and beyond. We strongly encourage YOU, the FFPC player to get involved with your state representatives any way you can. You can always contact the SBFSTA for more info on what you can do. Please email dave@SBFSTA.org

If you play pay-to-play fantasy football or other fantasy sports anywhere else besides FFPC, you should
demand that those websites and companies financially support the SBFSTA efforts to their fullest. Some are, but many in the industry are not. Lip service doesn’t help pass fair and reasonable laws–lobbying does. And that costs money–a lot of money–in many cases. We need everyone in the fantasy sports industry to reach into their pockets and give all they can. If you are giving them your money, they should be giving the SBFSTA money. That’s the bottom line. Thank you!”

FPC Champ Mike Kuzma on HSFF Hour

In a true Cinderella story, Mike Kuzma came out of oblivion to tally a tremendous 236 Week 16 final score that paid out $250,000 as he won the 2016 Footballguys Players Championship. He tells us what it was like watching those final games, how he did it without any stud tight ends, why running backs were so important to him early and much more.

The High Stakes Fantasy Football Hour normally airs Friday nights at 10/9c, and the Kuzma episode can be heard here. You can hang out with the high stakes players in the show’s chat room if you want to listen live, but you can always catch the replay of our show on the Fantasy Sports Radio Network on Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. ET. Plus, on-demand  streaming is available for listening anytime via iTunes, Google PlayStitcher RadioTuneIn Radio, Spreaker, or Overcast on your iPhone or Android device as well.

Ranaghan Leads After Week 1

After a Wild Card weekend that has us all looking forward to the Divisional Round more than ever, Stephen Ranaghan’s Miss You Mom sits atop the other 2,749 teams in the 2016-17 World Famous Playoff Challenge. Ranaghan tallied a 135.2 thanks to Aaron Rodgers’ 34.1 and Le’Veon Bell’s 31.4. Helping his cause was also Doug Baldwin (28) and Jarvis Landry (21.2).

Since Ranaghan lost three players this week instead of two, it remains to be seen if he can hold his lead over the teams in a three-way tie for second. Jc Gifford’s BBWC, John Fedak’s Russian and Brandon McClain’s ThundaBird Im Feeln Kinda Hot!!! are just 1.1 points off the pace. Hacker Wins Terminator; Lituchy Takes Super Bracket; Challenge Closes Tomorrow!

Hacker is $10K Terminator Champ

Champ Outlasts 2nd Place Kovarik For Five-Figure Payday

It was a pair of running backs in Week 16 that helped Ron Hacker’s squad to a 2016 Terminator title and a $10,000 grand prize. David Johnson (35.6) and Le’Veon Bell (28.7) did the heavy lifting as Hacker outlasted Vern Kovarik’s Celtics 650.07-626.07 in the final week of the contest’s Championship Round.

Kovarik is no stranger to the $3,500 second place prize in the terminator, as this was the third consecutive year he finished as the runner-up. Matt Bailey’s Iron Spike of Death took third place with its $2,000 purse while Jason Katt’s Village Idiots came up a half point behind him for $1,250 and fourth place.

Rounding out the top five was James Siple’s love ’til it Ertz, which cashed $750. Check out the top five finishers and their scores and prizes below:

  1. Excelsior II    RonHacker    650.07 $10,000
  2. Celtics    VernKov    626.07 $3,000
  3. Iron Spike of Death    MattBai    625.68 $2,000
  4. Village Idiots    jkatt    625.18 $1,250
  5. Love ’til it Ertz    sipemokid    624.5 $750

Playoff Challenge Closes in 24 Hours

With fewer than 300 spots left, the 2016-17 World Famous FFPC Playoff Challenge might sell out today! Remember that any winnings you earned during the regular season that are in your player accounts right now can be used toward your Playoff Challenge teams.
The FFPC will be donating 100% of this year’s Playoff Challenge proceeds to SBFSTA.org to continue fighting for fair and reasonable fantasy sports legislation across the country.

Our hobby is under attack. States like Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri and Indiana have made it impossible for small fantasy operators like FFPC and others to function under the newly passed laws. We must fix these bad laws and make sure other states understand the needs of small businesses in this industry and the differences between DFS and SEASON-LONG. The SBFSTA has been and will continue fighting on all of our behalf to make sure our hobby isn’t taken away from us. Thank you for your support of the Playoff Challenge and the SBFSTA!

If you remember, last year’s Playoff Challenge sold out early, and sign ups have been coming in faster than last season. I urge you to sign up sooner rather than later to take your shot at $100,000!

The main details for the Challenge are listed below:

  • Entry fee: $200 per team
  • Contest capped at a maximum of 2,750 entries
  • $100,000 Grand Prize
  • More than $480,000 in guaranteed prizes paying down to 400th place
  • Contest runs from start of the NFL playoffs thru the Super Bowl
  • Each team consists of 10 players in an FFPC starting roster format
  • Each team chooses from 12 playoff teams but only 1 per team
  • All rosters will be locked on Saturday, January 7th at 4:35pm ET
  • No roster adjustments will be allowed even for games starting later
  • For more details, see the full rules and payout structure at the contest page linked right here.
Help support the small businesses of fantasy sports while taking your shot at a $100,000 grand prize today before the contest is filled up: You only have hours left to jump into the fun!

2016 Super Bracket Goes to Lituchy

Michael Lituchy had perhaps the most efficient season of any FFPC player this season. He played one league: The 2016 FFPC Super Bracket. And fast forward to a massive run in the final few weeks, he is the competition’s $10,000 champion. Thanks to Bell, Andrew Luck (29.6) and Ezekiel Elliott (22.2), his Down Slouth Slangin’ nipped the second place finisher Rob Singler’s MaxxTorque 156.2-147.5 in the championship. Singler took home $2,500 for his efforts.

The title game in the Super Bracket’s Championship Round featured Lituchy’s 25th seed squad versus Singler’s 23rd seeded team in this 32-team tournament. To say it was a meeting of Cinderellas would be quite the understatement as both squads turned it on at the right time. Anything can happen in the Super Bracket, and it didn’t let us down from an entertainment standpoint this season once again. Thanks, to all 96 players that participated!

Modaff & Zoretic Win Off-The-Grid & Rozek Cashes $12,500 in Auction; Challenge 75% Full

Off-The-Grid Champs Win $16K

John Modaff & Tom Zoretic Earn 4 Weekly Skins and Title

Finishing as the runners-up in the FFPC Off-The-Grid Challenge in 2015 had to leave a bad taste in the mouths of CHI-TOWN owners John Modaff and Tom Zoretic. But they would not be denied this year, as they defeated Alex Bulazo’s Spearmint Rhinos 313.35-302.4 in this year’s competition.

CHI-TOWN was led by David Johnson’s 35.6 Week 16 points as it brought home the championship in the two-week four-team total points playoff format. But Jay Ajayi (27.9), Mark Ingram (25.3), Matt Ryan (22.75) and Ezekiel Elliott (22.2) also played big roles in getting Modaff and Zoretic past Bulazo.

Modaff and Zoretic won $2,000 for being the #1 seed, $10,000 for winning the league and nearly $5,000 in weekly skins winnings. Bulazo won $4,000 for second plus an additional $2,000 for being the #2 seed. John Shaw’s 2 Bills & a John earned $2,000 for finishing in third place.

With players bidding real money on their draft slots as well as free agent acquisitions, the Off-The-Grid challenge continues to be one of the most fun and compelling leagues we run. We look forward to doing it all again next year when 11 challengers will try to defeat CHI-TOWN in their defense for the title.

Fewer Than 600 Open Spots Remain

Gaché, Schroeder & Hubbard/Sousa Win Big Payback Leagues; Challenge Two-Thirds Full

Trio of Winners Cash $30,000 Each

Gaché, Schroeder & Hubbard/Sousa Win Big Paybacks

Right up there with the High Society league are our Big Payback leagues that feature a $5,000 entry fee and $25,000 first place prize. For the first time, we ran three of these leagues this year, and coming out on top were a relative newcomer and two Main Event Champions.

In the Big Payback #1 league, it was Ron Gaché’s Lagos53 squad running away with the title as he defeated Patrick Daly’s Wall Street Warrior 372.35 to 247. Lagos53 put up a tremendous 205.05 score in the final week, featuring big-time scores from Aaron Rodgers (40.65), Jordy Nelson (36.4), David Johnson (35.6), Jay Ajayi (27.9) and LeSean McCoy (25.5). Gaché–who has only been playing for a few years in the FFPC–cashed $30,000 for first and for his #2 regular season seed. Daly nabbed $20,000 for second and his #1 seed. David Hubbard and Nelson Sousa’s Meahan took home $5,000 for third place.

In Big Payback #2, we saw 2008 Main Event champ Chad Schroeder’s Cocktails & Dreams defeating Dan Hendrickson’s Dilly Bars 340.75-308.65. Schroeder’s Week 16 score was buoyed by Doug Baldwin (36.7), Johnson and Ajayi as well. He takes home $30,000 for first and the #2 seed while Hendrickson pockets $15,000 for second. Hubbard and Sousa’s Meahan earned $10,000 for third and the #1 seed coming into the playoffs in this Big Payback, too.

Continuing a massive year in not just the Big Payback, but high stakes fantasy football as well were the duo of Hubbard and Sousa as their Meahan entry won $30,000 by virtue of their 274.85-269.05 victory over Jack Haan’s Wyld Stallyns and their #2 regular season seed. The winners of the 2016 Main Event Week 16 136 score led by Odell Beckham’s 26 wasn’t great, but it was enough to stay ahead in the two-week championship. For his efforts, Haan won $20,000 for being the runner-up and the #1 seed entering the playoffs. Joe Galea’s Mr. Krab won a $5,000 prize for third place.

It was such a treat to see these 36 teams play out these three leagues over the course of the season. Congrats to the winners, especially Hubbard and Sousa who were able to cash in all three. In 2017, these leagues should be just as fun and competitive!

Challenge More Than Two-Thirds Filled

The 2016-17 World Famous FFPC Playoff Challenge is estimated to sell out either tomorrow night or Friday morning at its current pace. Don’t miss out and register now!

  • Contest runs from start of the NFL playoffs thru the Super Bowl
  • Each team consists of 10 players in an FFPC starting roster format

In a truly impressive feat, Glenn Lowy’s Glenneration X beat 11 tough owners for the second straight year in the $10,000 entry fee High Society league. 2015 FPC Champ Blake Pyle Wins Pros Vs. Joes

Pyle Grabs PVJ Title Back To Joes

’15 FPC Champ Wins; Fellow Joe Kimra Schleicher Is 2nd

While it didn’t come with a massive payday like last year’s Footballguys Players Championship, 2015 FPC champ Blake Pyle (above, with son holding last year’s $300,000FPC grand prize check) still has to be mighty proud for running away with the 2016 FFPC Pros Vs. Joes Challenge. His squad tallied 2,933.75 points on the season in this 28-round DraftExperts competition, which was 134.7 points ahead of second-place finisher Kimra Schleicher.

After a two-year stint with the overall title being held by the Pros, Pyle brings the crown back over to the Joes side, thanks to some shrewd picks in his draft:

  • Kenny Britt (18th round)
  • Cole Beasley (26th round)
  • Terrance West (27th round)

Schleicher finished 8.25 points ahead of third place Mike Nazarek from FFMastermind.com. Nazarek, who finished third overall for the second straight year, won his individual league and was the top-placing Pro. 2014 PVJ Overall champ Tim McCullough from RotoExperts.com took fourth this year with another pro–DraftSharks.com’s Jared Smola–rounding out the top five. Here are the top-ten finishers:

  1. League 4    Blake Pyle    2,933.75    Joe    Blake Pyle
  2. League 3    Kimra Schleicher    2,799.05    Joe    Kimra Schleicher
  3. League 6    FFMastermind.com    2,790.80    Pro    Michael Nazarek – FFMastermind.com
  4. League 1    RotoExperts.com    2,739.30    Pro    Tim McCullough – RotoExperts.com
  5. League 2    DraftSharks.com    2,738.45    Pro    Jared Smola – DraftSharks.com
  6. League 6    Ground and Pound    2,728.15    Joe    Danny Mueller
  7. League 2    I’m Your Huckleberry- BWAZ    2,718.20    Joe    Billy Wasosky
  8. League 5    Footballguys.com    2,709.15    Pro    Sigmund Bloom – Footballguys.com
  9. League 2    Gregg Zwickel    2,695.85    Joe    Gregg Zwickel
  10. League 3    AXE CAPITAL DBA TEXAS FELONS    2,695.35    Joe    Jamey Joseph

The Pros may have lost the overall title, but they did win four out of the six leagues. As a reminder, each of these league-winners wil ltake a home a free 2017 FFPC Main Event team for their performances. Here are those league winners:

  • Purple Rain League: Tim McCullough, RotoExperts.com Pro
  • November Rain League: Jared Smola, DraftSharks.com Pro
  • Blame It On The Rain League: Kimra Schleicher, FFPC Joe
  • Here Comes The Rain Again League: Blake Pyle, FFPC Joe
  • Fire and Rain League: Sigmund Bloom, Footballguys.com Pro
  • No Rain League: Michael Nazarek, FFMastermind.com Pro

Congrats to all the champs in each of these leagues, and a huge THANK YOU to Darren Armani from FantasyMojo.com who once again did a great job of assembling 72 awesome players who waged some great competition throughout the 2016 season. For all things Pros Vs. Joes, check out the link to FantasyMojo.com here. You’ll see draft boards, results and previous years results and players listed as well.

Challenge Selling Out Faster Than Last Year

As a reminder, registrations are live for the 2016-17 World Famous FFPC Playoff Challenge. Don’t forget that you’ll be able to apply your winnings in your account right now to the Playoff Challenge as well.

  • All rosters will be locked on Saturday, January 9th at 4:35pm ET
  • No roster adjustments will be allowed even for games starting later
  • For more details, see the full rules and payout structure at the contest page linked right here.

Help support the small businesses of fantasy sports while taking your shot at a $100,000 grand prize today!

Happy New Year From the FFPC

What a great year it was for so many players cashing big prizes in 2016. We still have one last contest: The World Famous FFPC Playoff Challenge that will kick off eight days from now. And then it’s on to satellites, rookie dynasty drafts, the 2017 FPC and then the Main Event!

Time flies by in fantasy football, but we’re so glad you’ve made the FFPC a part of it. On behalf of Alex, Dave and Chris, I wish you a very happy and prosperous 2017, players!

Enjoy Week 17, everyone, and don’t forget to register for the Playoff Challenge while you can! Have a great New Year’s Eve, be safe and I’ll see you in the chat room tonight!
